reducer or mineral spirits and a rag will take that right off.

^With the stripe removed it will be easier to paint. At least that would be my take on the situation. I could be wrong.

Goo Gone and a plastic putty knife.

But then if he's repainting it himself he should have enough brains to get the stripe off, IMO.
Good luck! ;)

body shops use whats called a rubber wheel. it strips vinyl stickers off easily. its what i used on my car. OR WD40 might work.

i am getting the car painted but i wanted to prep the car myself. i just wanted to know the fastest way to take off the black strips. i have taken off most of them off with ease but the ones on the front bumper are a pain to take off since its all ripped up. so dont hate on me, i just wanted some help. thanks for those who helped.

How did you get the ones on the side off?

i went to the strips end and used an exacto knife to lift it off and i was able to easily pull them off slowly in one piece. but the front bumper as you can see in the first pic is all jacked up and its taking a long time to do with a skinny little exacto knife.

so far makoto has got it right except the part about wd40.................. and all the rest are wong WRONG........u guys suck.... to remove those vinyl sticker crap or foam tape fast........... use the rubber eraser wheel.... becareful when usin this cause u dont want to ruin ur paint job by getting the panels hot, and u really cant use it on plastic bumpers and such

the sides are easy cuz they're metal. for some reason those strips stick to urethane better, even though it's only really touching the paint.
i got mine off with goo gone and my thumbnail. my thumb under the nail hurt for like a week after that too. ha!
