View Full Version : Bad ECU, No Fuel

Long story short, after about 2 years of troubleshooting I have determined that a bad ECU is preventing the #1 injector from spraying, causing my SR to run on 3 cylinders (I can explain what all was involved in getting to that conclusing if anyone cares).

So here is my question. Should I just get a new/used SR ECU, or is now a good time to go with some other means of Fuel Management? The car still runs, and I am fairly certain that it is just the #1 Injector part of the ECU that is bad. My biggest concern would probably be price. I am not looking to get anything more than 250hp - 300hp at the flywheel, so an expensive stand alone system is probably not necessary. Just curious if anyone has any ideas about which route might be best. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Sounds like you are the perfect candidate for a tuned ECU. I wouldn't bother with a stand-alone unless you are going to do something unorthodox to get you to your goal.

Has anyone heard anything about megasquirt? Their site is http://www.megasquirt.info. DIY fuel controller. Might be too complex for me though.

So does anyone know a good source of stock or tuned ECU's? I have already spent way too much money on the car, so I would rather it be as cheap as possible (but will spend more if it is worth while).

Megasquirt requires you change to a ford type distributor and ignition and injectors iirc. Plus you have to put the magnetic trigger on the crank or something like that. Been a long probably not a good idea on the sr.
