View Full Version : What is wrong? SR wiring, maybe?

Okay so I took my 90 240 with an SR to a local shop to get it wired since the last shop that did it "slow motion motor sports" in Colombus Ohio FUCKED it up. Now everything is messed up. The car runs fine Im assuming, don't really know how an SR 240 is "supposed" to run like. The car sounds real deep and throaty. And its lopey too like a muscle car with a aggressive cams. When I first got the car back it ran great. Then a day later it started almost dying when i'd come to a stop, I talked to the shop they fed me a bunch of bull shit. Now a month later or so, it no longer wants to die when I come to a stop. It idles smoother. But a bunch of lights are coming on now for no reason that didn't use to come on. Now my E- "BRAKE" light is ALWAYS on. It never used to be, it started happening like 3 weeks after I got the car back. And the seat belt light flickers really soft and is always on too. Also the light between them comes on everyonce inawhile. Also my Speedo just like Goes dead everyonce in awhile and sometimes it reads way slow and wont go past 25 and stuff like that. And the tach has never worked. Whats up with my car? Also when they were wiring it they called and told me I had a fried ECU. I dunno if those dumb asses did it or what so I had to buy a new ECU, they told me for an extra 250 they'd give me one, I was already fed up so I said sure whatever. They gave me an E5 ECU, isn't that a blacktop ECU? What should I do? IS that ECU right for my car/motor? I have a 90 240 with a redtop SR20. Only mods are hard intercooler piping, full 3" exhaust, intake, MBC. Someone help, this is really starting to bug the hell out of me.

the e5 is for a blacktop, O2 sensor readings will be off and you might run a tad leaner, but other than that it wont hurt. It sounds like they FUCKED your wiring, have you installed the new ecu yet? Id pull the codes from the ecu to start, also id highly suggest letting someone who knows how to wire the SR look over your harness.

The guy that did all the work seems like he knows his shit. Said he had done tons of SR swaps, has like 22 ASE certifications or someshit. He started pickign things that were wrong as SOON as I pulled the car up to get re-wired. I got a new cluster from a 91+ S13 that im gonna throw in and see what that does. Cuz honestly, the car seems to run alright accept for the cluster, when I put gas in it the little needle slowly moves up to what its filled too(takes like 5 minutes) my old 240(KA) as soon as I put the gas in, and started the car it showed the right amount on the gas gauge. This one stays down, then slowly rises up. The lights that keep comign on are in the cluster, and just started doing it. The tach, also a cluster problem and i've read taht you need a 91+ tach. Which I have, and the speedo, I dunno what that can be. So do you think the cluster in my car is just fucked or what?
