So I attempted this, thinking that the clips were the only thing holding the headlight together. Well, for those of you who have blacked out their kouki headlights, you know that is incorrect. So, how did you do it? I didn't want to put a bunch of stuff in the oven without asking first.

This same topic was covered not long ago. I'd suggest you start with a healthy SEARCH.
If the search yields nothing, then yes, you need to heat the glue somehow. I'd use a heatgun before tossing the light in the oven. If you get the timing wrong you could melt more then the glue. Good luck.

yups, use a heat gun, its safer that way. I followed KoukiS14s write up 2 yrs ago...i used my oven. iirc 250 ish, stick it in there and keep an eye out on it. Pull it out every 5 mins or so to check the glue. The glue will melt first b4 anything since its a glass housing. Use a butter knife to help you pry it oven.

DO NOT put them in the oven, with the oven on! I've taken multiple sets of headlights apart. What worked best for me was heating the oven to 250. Then turn it off! Put the headlights in for 15 minutes, sitting on a dry towel, that is on a cookie sheet. pull them out and use 2 flat head screwdrivers and/or a butter knife to pry the lens off. That's be best way to do it. Some people use heatguns, but that's far too labor intensive for me. I like letting them sit there and heat up on their own better.

I second using a heat gun, but as fliprayzin240sx mentioned he used my write-up I made back when I was "95KoukiS14"...here is a link... http://home.comcast.net/~simples14/writeup_blackhousing.html
RUTH'LESSDET - This is the best pic I have to compare both of the housings....

i just put it in the damn oven for 10 mins, took it out, pry'd it out slowly to check if it was hot enough, if not, left it in for another 5, did the same then yeah, bam! they're hot enough so i just pryed them off slowly,

oh yeah, same procedure to putting them back together lol
You can ask topsecretgold on the forums about that. he does a great job of it btw.
I preheated the oven to 400 then turned it off. waited about 5 mintues and put the lights in for about 10mins. took about a minute to get them opened. I also removed EVERYTHING from the headlights. All the rubber crap and anything that was removeable. The first time i did this, the headlight bubble level melted on my friend's headlight =X hahah
IMO, black housing kouki doesn't look right compared to honda civic and integra. I think it's the corner light that kills it. Black housing looks best on One piece headlights.
