Hey all, I ended up selling my 95 240sx and now I can't decied on what to get in its place. I want a car with excellent grip handling be it fwd, rwd, or awd. I have a few ideas on what to get but I would like some imput from you guys. My budget is 16,000 for the car, and thats through a car loan so no I can't get a 6,000 dollar car and use the rest on mods. I currently am looking at the following...

Toyota MRS with celica GTS swap. the poor mans lotus. This car has no trunk and no room which is a pain in the ass, but then again it drives like its on rails and is super light.

Subaru Impreza WRX a 2002 model with teh bug eyes. this is probably my best option. roomy, fits 4 people. downside is 4 doors, and i'll prob. destroy the tranny.

Bmw M3 a 1995, the down side to this is they are usually close to a 100,000 miles, but from what I hear they can run forever if they are taken care of.

Mazda Miata 2001 and up. A strong car but small again and little room. it is light though and they do handle.

I also have found 2 97 240sx. Only problem is that my parents refuse to let my buy another 240sx. It would be my third if I did. Its tempting though.

I really wanted to try something out side of this 240sx community, but the more I look into it I am also drawn back, due to the 240sx huge suspention support which means it can be a very strong grip car.

Anyways give me your imput on these cars, also if you know of any other cars you would recommend by all means post it. I want your take on it to. Give me some ideas on some other strong grip cars out there be it fwd, rwd, or awd.

Thanks.

Hmmm, you sold your 240sx, parents won't let you get another, and I see no other Nissan's in your list. That makes this Off Topic.

Too bad you cant squeeze some more money out and get a supra... cause that would be super.... I like the wrx idea.... but i have always been a fan of the old 2 door impreza RS body style models. I think they're pretty common. autotrader has a good selection.

I said they refuse to let me, I didn't say I won't get another, I just got to work them over a little bit. Yeah I thought about an ITR also, they are very strong cars.
I have been all over autotrader looking for decent 2.5RS in my area. They are rare.

what was the reason you sold the s14 in the first place?
because the cars you listed is kinda all over the place,
some are bigger, some are smaller, some eats more/less gas, some costs more/less to maintain...

Go for the M3, i had a chance to drive one at yesterdays driftday... that thing kicks some ass. but i hear that there a little expensive to maintain.
s2000??
eg, ek civic? they can be fast in the straight line and still kick ass at the track. well not a stock one anyway. ohh i see its a loan nevermind than.

SC300/400 with suspension for just daily.

Battle version makes various suspension parts for it. Roomy, Luxurious, POWERFUL and priced well, what more do you need?

Kinda lame yuor parents make your car choces, but if they see this thing they would be like, "pff. He just wants a hoe getter" Done and done.

The 240sx was sold because i was tired of it. I just wanted to get rid of it. Don't know why really, i wanted it gone. In terms of what my goals are, well something thats handles like a monster. I would like it to be roomy and to be over all a nice looking car, but we can't have everything. also something with low milage, but then again we can't have everything. Parents don't want me to get a 240 because they have seen me beat two of them to death, and would hate it to happen to a third. I am past the stage of thrashing my car all the time. I want something that I can daily drive and then i can track once a month. Ive looked into s2000 and the ones I have found in my price range are all 2000 - 01 which are the ones with the bad trannys. I'll look into the sc300 though, Haven't thought about that, even though they are TANKS..

get a Lexus SC300 5Spd...they make a ton of parts for em and they are a luxury supra...who wouldnt want that?! Turbo kits are readily available and a car club member of mine actually makes a turbo kit for NA supras/SC300s...he went 9.46 in the 1320 on stock long block besides 1 264 cam and a headgasket...

I am a fan of the 5spd SC300's there is one not too far from me for $9500 and I was tempted to get it....wrx would also be nice though. What about a used IS300 those are hot in my opinion might be more than $16K though depends on your area.

who told u guys sc300's were fast, those things are slow as balls (220hp-3800lbs). One of my friends just bought an auto sc300 and its a great luxury car, but slow as shit. He's just finishing up his 2jzGTE swap though, he's aiming for about 400whp on factory twins.......now she'll be a beast and not just a boat-

FAST? No, powerful is apt however.

The thing has decent torque for being a inline 6 in a heavy car, then of course there are motor swaps etc.. but lets focus on stock. Good car and suits the criteria. I wouldn't mind one. Mr Ueno's was one of the best of cars I have ever seen!

So yeah the miata and the MRS are out of the question... I sat and actually thought about it and as for daily drivers they would be a pain. Mainly the lack of trunk space or space in general in the case of the mrs, is what bothered me. So I am gonna look at the WRX and the M3, also I'll start looking into SC300's but then again this car is gonna be tracked and I want something isn't going to be super heavy, and SC's just come off as heavy.

Any other cars you guys recommend?

i say 91-95 MR2 Turbo. Cheap, Fast, Reliable & Good looking. Not to mention great grip cars. ive owned one and i loved it, i regret selling it. No other car handled like that. Only bad part is not too much room. Roomy for 2 people. and a trunk big enoguh for a bag of golfclubs. bout it. then of course the Frunk. where the spare is, you can fit 2 24 packs in there. or a small child.

Drift Style S14

I am just curious, a Z32TT is a good track car? How so? Miata's out of the question, so it the 91-95 mr2 same problem as the MRS they are two small.

A- stop refering to it as grip driving. that implies that trying to stick to the road is out of the ordinary. this notion is that of a naive ricer. stoppit.

here's an idea, why don't you think for yourself? the fact that you're considering anohter 240 shows your lack of planning on this whole thing. i hope you get a civic.

Subaru and Nissan have very similar designs and even share some parts! If you look at some of the older Subaru interior parts and even the sideview mirrors and trim, they say "Nissan" on the bottom because they are made by Nissan!

Until recently Subaru didn't make much of its own stuff besides the motor and drivetrain, all other stuff was outsourced to Nissan which is why they are so similar to Nissans of those years. Even the older WRX STI 4 piston brakes made my Sumitomo... almost the same as the 300ZX brakes.

Makoto... My dear sir, take your elitest attitude and shove it, I don't care if it sounds like a naive ricer, actually if your so wise what would the proper term be to use. I have been thinking for myself, but I do want to hear from other people because god know I don"t know everything, and maybe someone can recommend something that I didn't think of. Ok, m3 was designed to be a car that you could track but still cruise around comfortably in. Yes they are expensive to maintain but they are also beautiful to drive and are still quite functional. I like the mr2 swap idea, how much room do you really need? WRX isnt very track worthy in stock form(I CAN HAVE OPPINONS LEAVE ME ALONE) and a TypeR would be very fun and quick but I just hate fwd. Out of everything listed the car I personally would go for is the s2000. Maybe save a little bit more or just say f it and drop another grand to pick one up. They are quite trackworthy stock and still have some room, and ofcourse its Honda so we all know what that means in maintainence. All of you bitches do need to chill though. Quit whining and get back on topic for f's sake. Oh, it is just driving though =P

Yeah I heard him contradict himself from the first statement but I stuck to it for ease and all. Mostly because I considered it a really good idea I guess? There is sommmeee room in a s2000.
