either is better than open diff,
but you'll want to have clutch/mechanical diff,
guess at your point, get whatever you can/easier...

In that case I'm gonna sell the VLSD I have and have mine welded. What type of shop would do this, and how much should it cost?

Get a Weld locd version 3 http://shockdrifting.com/weldlocd.html
for 100? no don't lol spend 40 bucks locally, for the same shit, any knowledgable machine shop will be able to do it no prob, just don't tell em ur gonna drive on it daily. cuz they either wont or will just make fun of you for it , lol :bash:

after driving my friends car yesterday at dday... the thing was when this car would come around, the rear would really come around. Since there is no slip, the whole rear is just solid... really easy to switch the vehicle direction, but too much counter would spin out.. But might have been his car.. But breaking traction is stupidly easy, just smash on the gas peddle and the rear slips out.. nah mean? hehe

+10 for Welded Diff

For awhile I was going to events on open diff. I finally threw in the towell to see how a lsd type can help me expand what I learn. Then I got a weld diff. It made such a difference. All the things I learned came together and I can now make the car go in the direction I wanted with out questioning how I did it with open diff. Maybe down the line I might change to clutch lsd, but for now weld diff is for me.

Its 100 percent lock during acceleration and deceleration. So yes. On a clutch type you can set your LSD to how fast it will engauge to lock. 60/80/100

I have my VLSD + output shafts sitting around right now... Still need 5-bolt axles, too...

I've had my welded diff, for a long while, and haven't broken any axles. Maybe you are driving too hard too often.

Isn't a J30 a upgraded Maxima or am I mistaken?

I had my AE86 diff welded and I didn't like it. Every turn that I take, the whole rearend jumps and tires starts to squeek like crazy, even going 2 mph! I don't know about you guys, but I felt extremely stupid at parking lots taking turn, squeeks like a mofo and everyone always look to see what da hell was going on with my car. :( After my AE, I will never weld my diff again!
lol, why cuz you're embarassed of how people look @ u ?..

I've had a few diffs welded for people here in socal including sochbat and everybody has good things to say about it. If you don't have the money to get a clutch type diff for drift, it's well worth your time and the $50 to drop your diff and get it welded up.
Isn't a J30 a upgraded Maxima or am I mistaken?
well, the j30 is RWD, and completely different than the RWD maximas

More like a 4 door Z32.
RWD maximas? Those were like first gen, not to many know about those but I hope those to get hyped and be brought back and bought by the drifting whores- looks sort of like a MarkII.
I want this one!

My car with welded squeaks around sharp slow turns. I really don't care if people look at me. If they don't know what it is, and this it's stupid, screw them. Maybe it'll ward away the carjackers, thinking my car is broken :P

My tires don't squeal anymore, you just gotta learn how to drive it. the wider you try to go thru the turn, the less squeal you'll get. I think he's embarrassed cuz he's a noob or something. What is there to be embarrassed about? its a support-mod, so rep that shit. Would you get embarrassed if you had turbo and blew off the gases?
On a sidenote, everytime i see 91nismo, or 18yourfwd's sig, i always think they are on another cute date. Its Cute. =]

so do u guys think i should invest in a 2way or just get my diff welded?

Depends on you really. If you are a cheapass typical Zilvian, weld it. its a extremely good steppingstone to learn how to dori-crash. If you've got an Iron Wallet, 2way. Its really up to you, again. Weigh the pros and cons of each, and ask yourself what do you really want.
Personally, i'll stick to welded. Cuz, its cheap, hardly any maintenance, and its chirpy and cool.

Well I looked into places by me to get my open diff welded and there isn't anyplace around here that will do it. So I'm just gonna install my J30 that I've had in the back of my hatch for a month.

LOL.. He stole my sig :P I've known him for like 5 years now, I remember back in high school, I would talk about 240s all day. So much that he ended up getting one. Aaannnnyyways.
Yeah, I know if you take it wider you get less squeal. But hey, I'm proud of my welded diff, so I'll squeal as much as I want :D

Prolly cause of shitty tires and a live rear axle. No complaints here.
