I need help, everyone please?

This is for a 1991 240sx SE Coupe Standard:

I need to swap out my current Brake Booster (which is blown) with a rebuilt one. Non-ABS I believe!

I'm going to be doing this myself and with some friends! We've done plenty of tuning before, just nothing involving a Brake Booster (which will be something totally new.) :newbie: The info I need is, what exactly do I need to complete it besides the Brake Booster? Which proper steps do i have to take? The proper tools in order to do tha swap correctly? And also, very important, do i have to bleed my brake lines?

All answers and questions (if any) would be most appreciated.

Thanks to all that post........

What is a break booster anyway? If it's broken, why put it on in the first place?

The BRAKE booster, for those of us who passed 3rd grade English, is simple to replace. Four 12mm bolts and the clevis pin inside, two 12mm bolts outside, and unplug a hose. Should take you no longer than 15 minutes with just the one ratchet, extension, and socket. Bleeding is not required, the MC is sealed from the back.

Also, FYI - you can use ABS or S14 brake booster as well.

^^^ S14 auto/ABS booster WILL NOT fit...the center hole in the S13 chasis is too small for center part of the S14 booster.

The same may not be true for the non-ABS, 5-speed booster...

...but we tried to install a auto/ABS boster on a '93 hatch, with no luck.

FWIW...

Hmmm.. That's odd.
I know S13 ABS will work on S13 NonABS, and Japanese S14 nonABS will work on S13 (either).
Maybe the S14 ABS booster is different.

err iuno i have a s14 booster on my s13. it came from an auto s14 so i dont kno if he had ABS. From what it sounds like, if its auto... S14 auto/ABS booster. If thats the case then any booster will work cuz im living proof.

BEEFCAKE! BEEFCAKE!!!!!!!NICE ONE!

Hey, thanks alot! And my baad lil guy, I got one of tha spellings correctly at the end.

I was really sure I'd have to bleed tha lines, but I never checked the back of it. But that works, it'll be an easy install then............even for some 3rd Grader! :mrmeph:

Why not?

Did I not answer his question thoroughly?
Is he not more informed that he was before my post?
Does he not now have the knowledge needed to proceed with his install and feel comfortable in doing so?

Proper punctuation and grammar shows more effort on the part of the poster, and gives insight that they're intelligent enough to understand the answer you may give them. Answering a question written by a hoodlum who uses Z in place of S and abbreviates every single word is a complete waste of time because it's obvious they're an idiot and have no business even driving a car, much less working on it.

I corrected one mistake in an otherwise well written post, next time it will be even better written and give the notion that 'The Darkness' is willing to learn, appreciative of the information he has found and been given, and anxious to continue. That's the type of person we need on here and in the community, instead of the type of person who uses the phrase 'why ya gotta be a dick'.

That should actually have been written " Why do you have to be a dick". That would be more appropriate, and receive better feedback.

Dude I dont know what to say to that. You obviously have issues if you feel the need to correct people's grammar in posts, and if this is your goal, then you're gonna be on this forum all night. You seem intelligent, so you should definitely know that judging people based on how they type on an internet forum is about as reliable as determining a girls weight based on her phone voice!

Good luck to you in your crusade of grammar correction!! :)

Whoa now, there's no need for this guys! Cant we all just get along!?!

........I used to type ethug-ish a while back, but I came back around. And I like using dude = dood, the = tha. Thats pretty much it! I admit I typed tha incorrect spelling of break = brake. But at the end of my post, I did use brake correctly. :bigok: So.......no big deal. You corrected me, thanks. Only part that didnt need to be in there, was tha 3rd grader analogy.

I am very well, more informed than before. Tha tools I knew already I needed beforehand. Everything except bleeding the breaks, someone put that idea into my head, which led me to making this post.

This is pretty much it^^^ but i dont know about 15! unless youve done it before! If you havent dont it before.. it should take you about 30 min or so. but its nothing hard to do! basically common sense. for me the hardest part was taking the pin out where the brake pedal hooks up to. other than thats its a breeze!

I've done it before and it took me more than 15 minutes.
Of course, my car still has what it came from the factory with under the dash.
You know, A/C shit and a wiring harness.

Tha install took longer than expected.

But, now when I press the brake in then let go, its gives a thump sound. We put tha bolts back in correctly and also put tha metal pins in the line. I'm thinking something is loose......... but HOW!

Any more advice?
