That is extremely clean, I love it. I would absolutely love to hear a sound clip also. How was the windshield wiper motor piece polished? I thought that part was plastic? Or is it some other sold piece? Or am I totally wrong?!

the 1uzfe is dam good motor and great on gas mileage too. My old LS400 got anywhere from 18 to 23 and thats with 3900 lbs. So in the 180 that would be even better.

:wtc: I have the same engine in my other car which makes me appreciate this swap even more. The 1UZFE made 80% of its total torque(260lb-ft) at ~1800rpm ( yes 1800rpm is correct ). The 3UZFE makes 90% of its total torque (325lb-ft) at the same rpm. I drive around town with all the hills and such keeping it under 2000rpm and its pretty quick...yes I know you can do that with the torque in a KA but if you are thinking that, you probably don't understand what I am saying. And it still got 18/22mpg. Well picture that and then subtract ~1200lbs + manual tranny = :eek2: As for what it sounds like, I removed the mufflers and it sounded like what a V8 should sound like, lumpy and grumpy at the low revs but past 4k it starts screaming like a F1. People would always stare at me weird because they don't expect a sound like that coming from a ls400. :yum: One of the best swaps I have ever seen :bigok:

damn that's hot. I know that it will throw off the weight balance but it is still a good swap. Maybe a VQ in our s13's? hmmm,... :ughug:

1UZ's are all aluminum. They weigh less than 2JZ's. If it's far back enough it won't affect much at all for weight.

Oh and freakin awesome swap.

in grassroot motorsport they had a contest of some sort a dude with a 240sx dump in a chevy 350 motor and put a silvia s13 front end on. he ran 13.403 and only spent $1744. pretty cool

where'd they find the manual tranny? SC/LS/GS 400 series never had a stick

07-14-2005, 11:49 PM
Use an adaptor plate or replacement bellhousing. A lot of people use the toyo R154 tranny.

infinitexsound
07-15-2005, 12:06 AM
yeah i read up on it...... alot of aussie guys are doing it..... u have to buy like an adapter plate and run a different bell housing for sure......... id do it if i had the money.... nothing beats the sound of a v8 NA.... and a V8 made by toyota for sure.... think indy car and think who owns thats race with their engine......... yota.... for daymn sure...

bell housing adapter, from a company in aus but last heard there and this is
UNCONFIRMED info swaping the bell housing from a Z32 TT box and forgot what it was used from custom fabrication or it was off of some nissan product was able too bolt up the VH motor.

so I dont know and I have not seen any finished work.

so many people talk but use only the box it self and then get a custom bell housing too fit on that Z32 TT transmission reason parts and they are is support for parts for them in the usa.

u know i remember the tv show rides when they did a little series about steve millen and his company.... i remember them doing the swap to an IS using the supra 6spd tranny.... they machined a bellhousing.. and killed some of the sensor codes..... im surprised he didnt come out with an adapter plate....
