Alright, I did some searching and I guess the K&N cone filter can screw with the MAF. I didn't really want to spend the extra 20 bucks plus get the adaptor thing anyways...But does the box (stock replacement) style filter do the same thing?
If so, anyone have any preference of Fram vs. STP?

IMO Fram and STP both SUCK.
The K&N drop in isn't as bad, as it's not an open element, and won't get dirty NEARLY as fast. The cone K&Ns need cleaning much more frequently, which is what causes th MAFS griming, but that only happens over a fairly long period, I wouldn't worry too much.
when I had my 1st 240, I had a drop-in. Seemed like that thing NEVER got dirty. I think I had to clean it once in 2 years. Even then, as long as u don't over satturate the poor thing, contamination should be minimal.
Given the other options you're considering (and their relative prices), just go with the K&N drop-in. You'll breathe better and gain a couple of WHP :)

one more thing...
If you over-oil the K&N style filters (panel or cone shape) the extra oil could get sucked up the pipe and collect on the MAF sensor's hot wire and throw off the reading. You would have to really over oil it though. Just follow the directions when cleaning and you are golden.

Thanks.
One more thing, I don't really feel like making a new thread for this. I just don't want to screw up my first maintenence on my car, admittedly I'm pretty noobish. I'm changin the oil too, I'm not gonna waste my money on the synthetic (stock KA with around 107k miles), so is Mobil 1 10W-30 Drive Clean Oil okay?

Mobil Synthetic is a nice oil, not the best, but still very good. Don't forget about a quality filter, and in this case, STP is a very good brand. Also, you can get a rebadged version of STP filters at walmart, which are called, "SuperTech." :) As long as on the top of the filter it says, "Made in USA," it's made by Champion Laboratories aka STP brand.

I heard the Mobil 1 oil filters are good, which is why I switch to it. Since this thread is on air filters as well, I have a question.
How can I keep the filter on the right from not turning into the filter on the left?

Sell it and get a K&N ^_^. J'k. Looks like the old one got wet, and needed a cleaning eons ago. So, clean your filters, and don't get them wet and you should be fine.
...
And buy a K&N.
