View Full Version : Pictures of S14 zenki URAS or Version Select aero?

I've searched around, but the only pictures I can find are these:

http://www.uras.co.jp/2004_04image/s14_a_t4_f.jpg
http://www.uras.co.jp/2004_04image/s14_a_t4_r.jpg

It's URAS Type IV. Version select also makes a "similar" looking kit, and it's S14 Zenki Version III. Does anyone have pictures of it? I've seen a couple of koukis with it, like jdmdrew, but that's about it.

Also, I don't plan on buying overfenders, and most URAS aero I've seen has been paired with them. So what are your guys' opinion on the outcome? Thanks.

stay away from curbs, speed bumps, cats, and the spring adjuster....... getting good wheels to match is gonna be a problem.........

If you like that extreme/wild look(side skirts popping out), get ready for super sunken battle ships, unless you plan to buy some bling wheels to back it up.

better check that fuel door ;)

on topic, IIRC isn't VS: III designed for overfenders? i think the other member with III on their car had issues with the sides of the front and rear bumper lining up with the fenders and quarterpanels. the bumpers stuck a little bit out from where the fenders/qps met them because he was using stock fenders/qps, not wide versions

You're lucky the front of your bumper has some ramp angle. "Some". Barely any. Stop bitching. You could have a bumper like mine... frankenstein SPL thanks Daily Driving and long 180sx nose!

So what do you guys think about it without a widebody? As for wheels, I'm getting custom ones, and right now I've come up with 18x9.5 + 12 and +18 in the back. I know I want 18's for sure, but with this aero I'm thinking I need to go wider, or lower offset? I don't mind rolling fenders I guess. I didn't really want to, but I guess I am.

And also, what's the difference between Version III and Origin Agressive (I'm assuming it is)? On that Falken S14, I noticed the rear bumper sticks out a lot, but hey, I don't mind.

Dousan_PG

origin mostly same minus from bumper is slightly different overall sides and rear are just about same

wide body? you wont be rollling fendres

offsets and wheels?
9.5 +12 front and 10.5 +15 rear imo

i know that is origin, i was just talking about how his fuel door is open.

http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?t=83487 <--that thread has VS: III and you can see its designed for overfenders. im not sure about URAS though, but i'd make sure before you ordered

URAS and VSIII are the same.

unless you have some crazy crazy wheels keep stock fenders...uras and origin both look fine without 'widebody'
still have to have decent wheel fitment or it will look like ass
car must be low too!

I was looking at jdmdrew's S14, and his rear seemed okay. On the front it's 18x8.5 +10, so it was sunk, especially with the front bumper, and the rear is 18x9.5 +18.

But damn, 10.5 in the rear? I'll have to be rolling like fuck, right? And I don't wanna run like -4 degrees of camber. Hahaha. Well, I mean, I wouldn't want to run extreme amounts of negative camber. And also, I'm not going overfenders. At all.

I'll be at Formula D tomorrow, so I'll be looking at a bunch of wheels and asking questions. Thanks for the advice so far, guys.

10.5 +15 is great.
on wide fenders

stock fenders require mega pull an dlike -4 camber w/ a stretched tire
f that
wide fenders such such wheel and offset
only a dumdum would run stupid amounts of camber. not worth it. get good wear, get more grip minimize camber.

not going wide fedners? 10 +20 is excellent if you pull slightly
9+15 is best if your rocking stock fenders w/ only a roll job and very minimal camber.

Just wondering, why 9" +15 and not wider wheels? Well, barely wider. I'm thinking of Mark from Drift Unit's sizing:

http://driftunit.com/photos/S14/jline/JLine_S14_1.jpg

18x9.5 +12 front
18x9.5 +18 rear

It looks good to me. And he's running 225/40, and I like his stretch. I don't know, since they're custom, I'd like to go as wide as I can.

So before I order these, any last suggestions for front and back? I've gotta clear R33 calipers in the front, but I know +12 can clear. Thanks again.

I know exactly how you feel...
I dislike the upward angle on my S14 front bumper, but as you mentioned...great for daily driving. However on the S13 Silvia there really is no upward angle...BN style.

i run 9.5 +12 in rear
-3 camber
yes -3
fuck -3 in the rear

+18 isnt much less camber

tires wont wear evenly on trakc use, will wear faster inside require flipping
daily drivein wont wear that bad, slightly more insdie not much.

and -3 = less grip.

DoriftoSlut

On 240s, 1 deg. of camber moves the top of the tire approx. 5mm. THerefore if you had a +18 vs a +12 you could probably run -2 camber and be just as flush. I would just get the baller shit and run overfenders.

Here's jdmdrew's car:

http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/wetoddimage.wtdr/wOTgwMDg0NnM0MTNkZmQzMXk1NDE%3D.jpg

I know I probably sound like a huge fanboy, but I really like how his rear looks. It's like, "ideal" for me. And plus, that makes 2 people with S14's running 18x9.5 +18 in the rear. So I think I'm sticking with that.

But for the front, I still have no idea what to run. I'm so confused about everything though. Because you, Dousan, say that you run -3 camber with the wheels you have, yet Mark from Drift Unit has bigger wheels with lower offsets, and he seems to run okay. But I think I'll take your word for it...

So final decision is probably 18x9.5 +18 for the rear.

Can someone help me figure out the fronts? Something with 18x9.5 if possible. Thanks.

I’d go with an 18x10 +18 in the back and 18x9 +10 in the front, IM running 18x10 +18 in the back and currently running 18x8 +18 in the front. I know I can go another half inch out more in the front so ive placed an order for new rims except the fronts will now be 18x9 +10. I know im running over fenders but they are all looks they don’t actually allow for a wider rim they don’t actually add any wider space. They only thing I did was a ever so slight roll (no Pull) of the rear fender. But I would pull it about a 1/4-1/2 inch if I were u so u can slam the shit out of your car and not worry bout it.

*dumdum raises hand* :p

yeah 10.5 + 15 is awesome, but definitely better if you have wide fenders. I dont, and like aaron said i run a stretched tire and -4 somethin camber. It looks badass, but it does wear pretty fast. My fender pull isnt that crazy so, I'll be pulling them a tad bit more to see if i can get some extra clearance to run less camber. I'll probably go with wide fenders someday, but not anytime soon. Wide fenders with oem aero everywhere else would look kinda odd imo.

Sorry to bring this topic back to the dead, but I have another question.

18x9.5 +12 = 18x9 +0?

I can't get half sizes, so I have to settle with 9. But now I'm confused with offsets. Here's how I see it:

1 inch = 25.4 mm
.5 inch = 12.7 mm

So I just added 12.7 mm and rounded down to be safe. 12 mm added to the 12 mm offset of 18x9.5 wheels would mean 18x9 +0. Are my calculations correct?

close, but wrong. its actually:
18x9.5 +12 = 18x9 +6

you are forgetting that a wheel width has 2 sides to compensate for every + size in width you go.

Im going to tell you all like this. My car will take the cake easilty w/ the URAS Ver.4 system period. I'm not gloating or anything like this. I know I've had some hard parked days in my time, Shit who hasn't in this futhamuka?. anyhow. I beleive you will get away with a 0 offset wheel using standard market ordering settings. if you go lower, in the negatives ( you'll want to Special Order) I myself run -20/10/ 235/40_Rear & -7/9/215/40_Front. Yeah thats big, I know. But hey its what I want. & I'm pretty sure it's what you'll want soon enough. .. .
