for anyone that has installed a crank pulley, how did you remove the old pulley? do have to use a puller or is there another way?

Puller, prybar, or sheer force.

use a puller and installer go rent one from an autopart store. that way you arent banging on it and dont screw up endplay or a seal

i bought a pulley and it didnt fit

so i took a big ass metal bar and pryed it out little by little and from many different angles to make sure it came off as straight as possible

put a front crank oil seal in there while you have it off

If the pulley is held on by a bolt, get the appropriate impact socket size/ratchet and brace it against a subframe. Then go start the car really quickly. Otherwise two huge screwdrivers might help.

i put the car in 5th, hand brake on, and took a 2 foot long breaker bar to the bolt

yeah and make sure you use 6 point socket heads

you'll still need to pry off the crank pulley itself

Its a 27mm incase u wondered :) only use a 6 sided socket,

SAFEST (if u dont have air tools) way to crack it loose is smack the rachet or power bar with a wooden mallet, seems to work just dandy... and wont stress your drive train, same with the flywheel.

Pulley Puller available at any autoparts store can make the job alot easier, most major auto parts stores let you rent them for free. ;)

a $6 gear puller from harbor freight did it for me.

btw......i've been told that using a breaker bar is not a good idea for removing the crank pulley bolt, and that only impact tools should be used. i did it with an impact socket and a breaker bar and it worked just fine, whats the problem?

maybe its bad for some bearing or something

or maybe its just really hard to get off from under the car

hard to get enough room for any leverage in that position

Anyone have a picture of what the pulley removal tool looks like? A friend lent me his that he used off of a Sentra SE-R but I dont think it will work.

it's 2 claws attached to a brace with a threaded bolt in the center.. that corkscrews and pulls up the claws as you tighten the head bolt down
