ok here is the situation. i m about to get an engine for $550 with about 27k miles this is for KA btw.. think that is a good deal ? also as far as i can tell that engine has been sitting for years, if i do get the engine, do i need to do some sort of engine treatment or replace anything ? any info is appreciated.
i've tried search but i don't know what is the correct keyword(s) for it so it didn't come up with anything
thanks

i say not worth but then mileage..i guess it would be, IF it was a 97 or 98 motor
not a 96 pre motor
what year is it from?
does it come w/ EVERYTHING (wiring, tranny, driveshaft, etc etc)
right now sounds NOT worth
basic maintenance should be done off the bat (plugs, oil filter etc)
and i would remove chain guides (if its pre 97) and mm such..clutch too probably

seriously i think thats a ripoff
keep looking for a better deal
what year is your car?
rewiring from 95 into a s13 chassis is a biatch.
and vise versa. not worth the time

You can easily find a S14 70k engine for like,200bucks.
Minor rebuild n headwork for 300, if done by yourself, and bam, better bang for your buck

There is no wiring. It's a 95, direct plug in and use the 13 distributor. Might take a total of 5 minutes.
F4 has nothing to do with it, especially since he doesn't have the harness.

Is there something wrong with your current motor?
IMO, wait till you find someone doing an engine swap. I did. I got my KA for $300. my buddie pulled it out of his, and there was nothing wrong with it. I did an oil change and tune up. I should have done the clutch, it is now out, damnit.
Just keep you eyes open. You should be able to find a better deal than that.

yea i've been always searching... but it is so hard to find a decent engine with low(~80k) mileage around here. mind you this is the east coast, NYC to be exact. there is nothing really wrong with my engine except that i need to replace all the seals, gasket, the springs and probably the valves due to all those wear and tear. i'm just weighting all the things that adds up together and see which is the most cost effective route i should take. either replace the engine with low mileage or do a minor rebuild.

You can get a rebuilt head for $350 or so if that's your concern, but I doubt you need to overhaul the valves/springs unless the motor has seen a life of limited oil and serious abuse.
