View Full Version : SoCal speeding ticket = DMV points?

got a ticket few weeks back did a 60 on a 40 i mailled in the check but i forgot to ask for traffic school.. I dont think its too late to get it if I call tomorrow but in case I don't make it do I get a point on my record which hikes up my insurance?

Did they give you two different fines? Usually if its your first ticket, they give you two fines, one with out traffic school, and one with the traffic school fee. If you paid the higer of the two, they send you some paperwork to schedule your traffic school, thats how it was for me.

no there was only 1 fine but its been about 2 years since my last ticket so i know im eligble for traffic school

well you went to court right? waited in some long ass line and talked to some clerk right? thats how it is in most places. anyways, when i got tickets, i was able to pay like 20$ more on the infraction for the ability to take traffic school, which was like 25$ more on top of that. i could have not paid the extra fees and stuff, but if you don't then you get a point. depending on your insurance, 1 point can make a LOT of difference, at least in california. get that straightened out, it'll save you hundreds if not thousands, as points stay on your record for 3 years IIRC. make sure you don't get a point if that is possible

actually no, i just called in and paid for it w/ a check i dont want to goto court.. i guess ill call them tomorrow and ask for traffic school..
