How much quieter is it with the silencer?  Is the horse power loss very noticable?

thanks

I saw a guy dyno down in texas with a 93 sr20det and he dynoed it with the silencer and gained about 8 horsepower and about 10lbs or torque. No one had any idea why this happened, because the torque makes sence but the horsepower doesn't. Might have just been a fluke. I think its supposed to be about 8 decibles different. I also have an apexi n1, no cat and 3" downpipe, and i think it sounds real nice like it is.

Hey, that would be sweet if it gained power with the silencer <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'> &nbsp;I prefer a quiet ride.
Excuse my ignorance but how much more or less is 8db ?
example?

I have a 3" exhaust with high flow cat and stock downpipe for now.

8 decibles isn't a whole lot at high rpm. i think at low it will probably be a lot quiter. Your's is probably pretty quiet with a cat still in place and stock d/p. With a cat an stock d/p where do you get full boost at? Mine hits 8lbs at 2300 rpm.

actually, its louder than you think. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

I hit 10psi at 3000+- a bit. I havn't pushed it much yet so I dont' remember the exact RPM at the top of my head.
I'll try it out later.

Actually, what RPM do you guys shift at? &nbsp;all the way to redline or is it better to short shift for best acceleration?
thanks
