How much quieter is it with the silencer? Is the horse power loss very noticable?
thanks

I saw a guy dyno down in texas with a 93 sr20det and he dynoed it with the silencer and gained about 8 horsepower and about 10lbs or torque. No one had any idea why this happened, because the torque makes sence but the horsepower doesn't. Might have just been a fluke. I think its supposed to be about 8 decibles different. I also have an apexi n1, no cat and 3" downpipe, and i think it sounds real nice like it is.

Hey, that would be sweet if it gained power with the silencer <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'> I prefer a quiet ride.
Excuse my ignorance but how much more or less is 8db ?
example?
I have a 3" exhaust with high flow cat and stock downpipe for now.

8 decibles isn't a whole lot at high rpm. i think at low it will probably be a lot quiter. Your's is probably pretty quiet with a cat still in place and stock d/p. With a cat an stock d/p where do you get full boost at? Mine hits 8lbs at 2300 rpm.

actually, its louder than you think. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>
I hit 10psi at 3000+- a bit. I havn't pushed it much yet so I dont' remember the exact RPM at the top of my head.
I'll try it out later.
Actually, what RPM do you guys shift at? all the way to redline or is it better to short shift for best acceleration?
thanks
