well my car was running fine right after i picked it up from the shop where i got the swap done. drove it from sacramento to san francisco then to fremont no problem. then later on i was driving it on the freeway and i noticed it wouldnt go past 5k...then 4k...then 3k...and then 2500. i shut the motor off then tryed restarting it and it started up but still wouldnt rev past 2500. so i shut it off and tryed starting it again this time it had a hard time. shut it off again...then the next time it just wouldnt start anymore. so i towed him home let it rest for a couple days...fired it up and let it idle for a while...still wouldnt rev past 2500..but after a while of idling it died and wouldnt start again.

im thinking its the mafs but i could be wrong. has anyone else ever had this problem???

If this is a change from the condition before.....?..... it should be the phsyical maf, if the problem persists, i would guess wireing.

WATCH OUT, alot of shops but conector maf wiring, if you do re-do it, make sure you sauder and heatshrink you're conections!!

ok so i removed the mafs and also unplugged it...i tryed starting it and when doing that id feel and hear it try to start up and also hear it back fire....so i put the mafs back in and plugged in...tryed to start it and it fired up but still wouldnt rev past 2500..i let it idle for a while until it just died on itself.

Dude, I would almost bet money on the ECU...but check that wiring on the MAF first...Dave

Since its craped out from 5 to 4 to 3 to 2.5 I would check the plugs. Rather then then a disconected MAF that would go from Fine to 2.5-3k instently. Other options, are to check grounds and clean the maf.

well i check the diag code and it came back as 22 (fuel pump)...that would explain why its having a hard time starting and staying on...but would that also cause it to not want to rev past 2500?

well i noticed when i was cranking it that there was a weird coughing choking scratchy noise coming from the throttle body area. anybody know what might that be?

i dunno about the throttle body scraping but did you ever get the fuel pressure issue solved?
