Hey!
I dont know what to buy. I have 2 main options at this time. A 94+ GSR or 240sx I am definately looking for something reliable and will not give me problems. I love both cars but its such a hard decision. Maybe some of you guys that have owned both can give me some advice on what to do. thanks!

have u ever drivin a 240 before?

Yes! i actually owned a 89 240sx w/ the stock engine. I had it for about 2 weeks and then the head gasket blew. My plans were to drop in the sr20det at the time but i didnt get the chance. I actually really liked having rwd but it was pretty slow but im sure that could be easily changed but reliability is more important to me now.

don't listen to people to tell you what you should buy. Research both cars and pick out the car you would most enjoy.
btw, you would think posting this question on a 240 board, most responses would be pro-240 and thus would be biased

i say get the teg. 240's suck balls. trust me, its a horrible money pit that you can never escape. all of our 240's suck we just dont want to admit it.

reliability?? teg. i have a swapped civic that i beat the living shit out of. never left me stuck anywhere. rear seats are quite a bit more useful. depending where you live, winter driving is a lil easier with it being FWD. i dunno. i dig my 240, but i <3 my honduh too. but yes, leather gsr seats = teh win.

get the integra. easier to get parts for since its a honda and its realiable.

I wouldn't say that one is more reliable than the other. My 240 has 212,000 miles and still kickin. My brother has a '95 teg that we turbo'ed and I have a '94 civic with a built GRS motor.
Living in Indiana makes one realize that winter traction is important...So, my civic is my all year round car, and the 240 is only driven in the summer. The civic and the teg are a little more comfortable, and have more head room.
If I wasn't worried about winter, I would take my 240 over my civic any day. Once I build my KA and boost it, I'm sure I'll drive my civic less.
Power comparison: A stock 240 feels much punchier than a stock integra. Stock integra has more power, but really lacks the torque.
It really comes down to your preference. Hope these thoughts help.

get the teg, turboing that's gonna be a hella lot easier than turboing or swapping on the 240. i bought my ex gf a 95 ls 4 door and i would drive it all the time. i put i/h/e/p on it and it was just way fun, not a hella fast car, but was damm fun and that was just a b18b motor. the non vtec motor (b18b1) is built for turbo, low comp. long tranny. gsr might be harder to find also. you can be the piss outa honda's all day long and they stay strong no doubt. if you turbo the ka 1 out of 7 days you're gonna be in the garage fixing something or tweeking it. or you could just swap a sr and roll it pretty much stock. depending on your area both are gonna be theif magnets too

Just get the teg. In winter you will really appreciate it over a 240sx. Unless you spend some money on some winter tires and maybe a vlsd a 240sx will work out. Rwd in snow is fun but when its icy you are fux0red. Having suspension mods in winter sucks car just gets too tail happy.

yeah, 240sx sucks, truck engine, wrong wheel drive, heavy, ugly, girls car.

not to mention our cars are slow! and old and ugly and yeap.
240s suck, so go buy an integra.

hmm...i have owned both...i recently sold my integgy and picked up a 240. the integra defnitly has more creature comforts and looks a lil better but isnt as fun to drive IMO. i find that my 240 is just as quick if not quicker than my integra ever was. in my area integras are as common as retards at the special olympics and 240 are not seen much.(prolly cause its wisconsin and salt = rust= death to 240). do i miss my integra, yes, would i take it over a 240? tuff choice...maybe we need a 240 to compare to the acura u have mentioned?

Wow, I know some people are joking, but it's like wow, 80%+ said to get the integ. Anywho, of course, you're posting on a 240sx forum, of course we'll be biased towards getting a 240. Just try to find an S13 w/ an SR for around $5000 (yes, you could find one for that much), and it'll have more power than that GSR.
Integral
07-03-2005, 02:23 AM
well i've had both...i had my gsr...which i loved dearly, and i have the 240 now, but there's only so much fun you can have with a fwd car...though it is great fun, and mine was semi-quick 14.5 w/ minor mods (cams..etc)...it still wasn't as much fun as a 240 w/ an sr20.
get the 240 and do the sr20...that's pretty reliable in my book. gl man. enjoy either.

Thanks for your opinions so far. Keep them coming if you want but i would appreciate it if some of you would be a little more serious. It's very hard to believe that a lot of you dislike 240's but yet you are owners of them.

get a EG hatch and put a gsr motor in there i miss mine...

240sx is fun because it has good torque. integra is fun because it is hella cheap to mod it. but do you know 92-95 civic has identical chasis to 94-00 integra? almost all of the part can interchange to each other, such as motor, brake, suspension, dash, door panel, seats...etc
anyway, it is more unique to have a 240sx i think. but if i were you, i would depend on if i can find a good condition 240sx or GSR first.

07-03-2005, 09:28 AM
240sx is reliable, but it's probably not as reliable as the teg. get the teg
a lot of 240sx's will cost you an arm and a leg just to fix (some of them), then once one problem is fixed, you are slammed with another one!

get the integra.
here is the main reason. if you cant decide between a FF and an FR, then you should just get the FF cause you most likely will never take advantage of the FR....just my two cents

pssssssst hey guy...*whisper* they are trying to make u not buy a 240 to keep down the whole bandwagon thing.
I would however buy an integra and then soon realise that rwd has more potential

GSR with leather is nice as shit. They defently handle better than 240s stock. It's fairly quick too and it'll save you gas if you stay out of VTEC lol. 240 is more of a weekend project car to me because they tend to be ghetto and annoying at times unless you've got some decent power and changed all those 15 yr old suspension parts out.

thanks a lot for the input and your participation in this thread. It looks live i have decided to buy an acura integra for multiple reasons such as reliability and gas mileage. If i ever have the chance in the future i will try and buy a 240sx to be my project car.
thanks!
thx247
07-04-2005, 02:57 AM
Gas mileage? The GSR gets the same as the 240. Only you don't have to put 91 in the 240. You can go with the cheap shit if you don't track it.
Teg is faster on the freeway, slower in the corners, slower on the track. For the 3 years I owned the teg, it broke down once. Ignitor chip broke. The 240 never broke, and I tracked the hell out of it.
With coilovers a teg is much faster than a stock 240 on the track though, that was annoying.
shayrgob240
07-04-2005, 03:28 AM
Same gas mileage as a 240sx w/ a sr20det?
thanks!
If it ain't a Type-R, it ain't a Tyte car!

go buy a 240, i hate my teg. it is suck a money pit... and it doesnt even move yet :(
rwd and .6L more is better. i wish i got a 240 or mr2 still.....
Integra definitely more reliable and the GS-R is faster than a stock 240SX. This is assuming you are going to keep both of them pretty stock.

obviously its your choice, but I'd figure out what you'd be using it for, a track car or daily driver. If it were more on the daily driven side i'd choose the teg. But again, its up to you

The Integra is a very fast track car. With just suspension and tires, it sticks like crazy.

Here's the beef:
You seem incapable of deciding which car to yet, but you think you can handle owning someone else's modified car, with a swapped engine no less.
One would think that if you were capable of maintaining and driving a car modified by someone else, you would also be able to choose a car based on your needs and wants and driving impression.
Welcome to Zilvia! You'll get used to it here... It's always like this but deep down people are actually nice. :ughug:
