Well... you gotta get more descriptive, 4 prong plug sounds like a ka maf, but, dont be alarmed, both mafs work with the sr.
IF you want,
Send me a picture with you're phone number, and i'll call you and tell you!
Thanks

Where exactly did you get this?
it came with my motorset. i actually bought two motor sets and i was told one of the mafs was a KA one and one was an SR one and yes i know both work but the KA one has to be rewired. anyways...i brought my car and my motor to the shop to get installed thinking i was giving them the KA mafs. after the swap was done i drove home no problem...but now i think im having problems with my mafs (wouldnt rev past 2500 and now it wont even start) and im trying to find out what mafs i actually have and need so i dont have to do any re wiring when i DO find a mafs.

maf "re-wiring problems" can be dangerous, if wires cross, they can cook the ecm. SO... be careful. But here's a test. Take off the maf, start the car, it should start up (fuel and spark present) then you should NOT be able to rev over 2500 or so. If this is a change from the condition before.....?..... it should be the phsyical maf, if the problem persists, i would guess wireing.
WATCH OUT, alot of shops but conector maf wiring, if you do re-do it, make sure you sauder and heatshrink you're conections!!

ok so i removed the mafs and also unplugged it...i tryed starting it and when doing that id feel and hear it try to start up and also hear it back fire....so i put the mafs back in and plugged in...tryed to start it and it fired up but still wouldnt rev past 2500..i let it idle for a while until it just died on itself.

The pins go up at a 90 degree angle? Definately not an sr maf. Also check ecu codes and see what pops up, but get an sr or sohc ka maf first. Search craigslist and the zilvia classifieds and you'll have one in a few hours.

Ok, well its easy enough to discount this maf (where in the world did this come from, does the SR harness plug into it?), but the thing that worries me more, is that the car Wont start up with the maf unplugged. Base timing maybe?

Well, it's definitely not a redtop SR MAF. The part number for that is 22680 52F00.
I'm not really sure. I can't find a match for that PN..
KA24E MAFS seem to be 22680 40F00
while KA24DE MAFS are 22680 53F00/53F01.
