alright i've searched about this here and on google and don't find what i'm looking for(everything i find has to do w/whether or not to upgrade the gasket, or someone determining whether or not the gasket was blown). I need to replace my head gasket and figured i might as well go w/an aftermarket one. What i want to know is which one is best? I know it's a vague question but i need to know. right now i have a 93 240 w/an s14 sr, blitz nur spec exhaust, 3" downpipe, no cat, and a fmic(don't know if that was needed but i see too many people request to know specs before they can answer a ?) and my long term goal is 300whp. I only use this as a daily driver(no auto-x, drifting,or track time of any sort...not yet anyways). Plz help me out

My goal with this motor is about the same, and my coolant and oil like to dissappear after hard driving so I am ruling it to a bad headgasket.
I am going to run Apexi, its readly available and instock 95% of the time, and been proven for high boost applications.
Either way I dont think you can go wrong with an HKS, Greddy, or Apexi gasket.

what sizes would you guys run. I guess it matters how much boost you are or are going to run, but overall would it be harmful to go with a thicker head gasket with stock boost (with plans to up it later or course), or would a 1.2mm sufice?

apexi makes a very nice one!!

i think thicker ones give u lower compression. now with lower compression u can run more boost but u will also sacrifice a little drivability (correct me if im wrong).

I was gonna say Apex'i... correct me if I'm wrong, but I recall several threads on FA about GReddy HG's not sealing properly or something...?
It's been awhile tho, go so search FA for your answer.

what do you mean in terms of sacrificing driveability? or at least what have you heard? so far it seems apexi is in the lead....anyone know of a write-up on these that might be nonbiased(unless its a personal experience using a few different types) cuz like a lot of us i live on a budget, but unlike a lot of people i don't like to go cheap, i prefer VALUE :rawk:

by having lowering ur compression ur low end torque will go down and u will have to rely on boost to get anywhere.

is it really that much of a difference? and if it is is there one that's oem specs or close to it ?
