View Full Version : Ignition switch removal and installation

Ok my ignition switch went to crap on my 95 and i need to know how to remove the old one and install a new one. I have one from my 96 parts car will it work and if so how the heck do i get it out. THX in advance. Any help is greatly appreciated as ths is my only reliable vehicle right now.
Ok im down to the security rivot now. Do I really have to drill this damn thing out?

the only way to do it is to either to drill it out or cut a slot into it.

no you dont have to drill it out . get a chizel or a flat head screw driver(thick). then seat shizel on the corner of that security bolt and wack it with a hammer ... just make sure you do it on the right side otherwise you will just tighten it more . this is how i do it at acura when we do ignition switch recallls and need to remove them.

Treat it a little nicer... Dremel a line across the bolt. Use a flathead to unscrew it, disconnect all the wires and install the new one and connect whatever wires necessary.
