Congrats on your degree first of all.
Welcome to the (shitty) real world now. I think your best bet is to start getting experience in your related field. That might mean taking really horrible tech support jobs anywhere here in the Bay Area.
I'm a regular on Craigslist and it never hurts to start throwing out resumes (well direct resumes to that particular employer) to individual companies. There are lots of tech companies out there, but all you really hear about are the big ones. The large ones have more opportunities for advancement and will keep your file on hand for atleast 6 months, but the smaller ones are the best places to get experience and training... then quit and go to a bigger company.
Or you can leave the area as other states have positions too.
Sadly, my Information Systems degree is going to waste as I work in Insurance for the State. Good thing is that they have a large IT dept that I have aspirations to transition into. Just gotta put in the time here first.
Good luck!

thanks
yeah i'm on craigslist, yahoo hotjobs, and monster at least twice a day. i think i've applied to about 15 jobs in the last week :)
the thing that sucks is i'm either way overqualified or barely underqualified for a lot of the jobs those places have. but i go ahead and apply anyway.
my fear about doing something like tech support is that i'll get good at it and have a bunch of experience and then people will want me to keep being tech support. that's what happened after i had two dishwashing jobs in high school. hahah. but i guess this is a little different.
the search continues...
