I have a later model s14 motor. Its in a 89 s13 chassis ran great and rev limited at 7400 -7500 now it rev limits just before 6 grand. Checked for boost leaks boost is at a steady 7 pounds.Does this in any gear even with the clutch pressed in.Runs and ideles great just rev limits a 5800 or so. If any one has had this experince and cares to share this problem with me it would be greatly apreciated. I dont need any guesses as i have been doing that for a week i need someone that knows and has worked with a late model s14 motor. Thanks -Robert

uh check for sparks plugs and timing...

Would you think that the timing changed by itself?

Also i wold think that the plugs would not cause this problem as it happens even if its not under load (neutral).

Does any one else want to take a guess at this point maybee a guess is not a bad of an idea.

Also how does one check codes on a late model (kouki) s14 motor i see no test area like the red top ecu?

for a quick fix just unplug all the gear sensors along the side of the tranny this will not allow the ecu to recognize how many rpms you rev too in any gear

as far as i can tell after going through the wiring is there is no gear sensors in the late s14 it only has a nuetral wire that wont allow you to rev past 5 grand in neutral. hooked that up and it works fine but it dosent cure my original problem.any more guessers out there i would think someone knows.Anyone? anyone?

Hey I have a Kouki S14 motor, and although I am not speaking from experience, I would imagine it is your VTC. Sometimes they go out, if you beat on it pretty hard, or if you upgrade the cams. There is a way to adjust it, but I have to find where I put that paperwork, if you think that might be it...PM me

OK i have been some reserch and testing and i have a few hunches that i would like to run by the group if i could.

information about the vtc system leads me to think that when i get in the car start it wait for oil pressure to build and rev it it almost revs to 6500 or so as the motor warms up my rev limit is returned to about 5700 rpm.So this seems to fall inlign when the vtc auctually starts at 5700. Anyone with in depth info on the vtc and any fixes repairs.

Also being that the car is obd2 who would have a scan tool that i could buy or use?

Ok. i figured it out it was a wiring issue to the vtc. So if your s14 ever stars to rev limit at 5700 rpm you will know where to start.

I also would like to give a shout out to all the non help and support i recieved from this group. It was as helpfull and usless as a box of rocks.I wil remember this when someone needs some Toyota help. Im just gonna use the nissan zilvia way and just sit there like im all smart or somthing.Butt how smart can you be when the teenager on the block can even hack a nissan ecu.Try that with a Toyota ecu.

so you're blaming Zilvia because no one has had a problem that is native to your own inability to properly wire your own car? How about you enlighten us, oh great one, on what exactly your problem was so it might not happen to us.

... but before you dot that, how about you tell us what FUCKING engine you have or what you have done with it before you ask for help with some phantom problem.

... jackass

I have a later model s14 motor.

I guess I'm not a fucking mindreader, because I can't tell that you're talking about a KA or SR.

Don't e-thug man, it's very unbecoming.

You wanna e-thug on me? Feel free. I promise to not be impressed.

kid you're obviously unaware of a few things:

1- you're the pussy newb here, you have about as much stroke as bob dole without viagra
2- phlip is a fairly stout black man. i know i wouldn't claim to be his fighting superior but thats mostly because angry black people scare me.
3- you're the degenerate retard that completely failed at conveying the idea you needed to.

that being said, choke on sand and die.

I don't know, maybe I was wrong in that I never saw your mention of which engine you have. KA, SR? Perhaps you were far too blinded by your e-thuggery to realize that you hadn't fucking posted that information? Perhaps you suck at the internet and life in general, someone lock this shit before I get my ass e-kicked.

im sorry for all the trouble guys i guess i took my test a little to far. i just had a hunch that i would get more action talking shit then trying to ask for help on a tech question.

Im a grown ass man 35 years old and not afraid off large black men either. Once again thanks for the warm welcome and i wont be back unless you want to make up and be freinds if not thats ok too..
