I have a 89 coupe. My brake light is just crazy. It started awhile back but i didnt care about it. But now it just doesnt work. Its actually the whole taillights. Before i press on the brakes one side only lights up. Now none of the brake lights turn on. And my taillight parking lights stay on even when i didnt turn on my headlights. It just stays on even when i turn off my car. My reverse light isnt working. Since my brake light stays on when i turn off my car, so i tried turning on the headlight and it turns off? But brakes still doesnt work. I replaced all the bulbs and still no workie.

Sounds like you need to do some wire tracing. I would say that you have a short somewhere. An FSM would do wonders for you right now. You can start by checking to see if the brake switch works. Usually, a multimeter with a "tone" continuity tester will work well here. Then, find someone to help you trace the wiring and test for shorts with the same continuity tester.

It's possible that the car was in an accident and the wiring was mangled and with time, it's only become more of a problem.

Im going to try that. Im guessing the brake switch is under the brake pedal? And yes the car been in a lil accident before. Why is the parking light on the taillight always on? and turn off when i turn on my headlights.
