150K is the highest I'd go.

My '92 is sittin' on 161K...many of the last 30K are hard driving, auto'x'ing, and lapping days...and it's still running pretty good. It all depends on how well cared for the car is. But like Irena said, for the simple peace of mind, I wouldn't go over 150K depending on price.

im at 152,000 on my SOHC KA24E right now....it is dying on me lately. Lost lots of power, and just doest run well. I would look for around 120,000. Should be ok for a while!

I just bought a 95 with 123k miles. I picked it up for $3500, I did some basic TLC to it... cap, rotor, wires, fuel filter, plugs, belts, and valve cover gasket. And also noticed that the water pump was leaking. So I had that replaced with a new t-stat. The engine bay looks like it just came out of the assembly line. I got lucky on the buy, but before I decide to do any major hp upgrades, I'll rebuild the engine.

i just bought a rough 89 for 1000 with 145k miles on it, but it runs pretty well and its mechanically pretty sound.
it also helps that i plan to have an sr20det or ca18det in by the year's end.
