View Full Version : $1400 to spend... what coilovers?

Pudula

I want to buy some coilovers with a max price of 1400... what would you buy, all things considering - US support, adjustability, etc. I don't claim to be a drifter or anything like that, but I would like my suspension setup to match my other mods a little better. Now I run eibach sportlines and Tokico shocks on my s14 and it does not feel stiff enough at all, nor is the lowering low enough.

Thanks, Ryan

P.S. please don't speculate based on what you hear, I want real facts from people who have used the product they endorse.

FRIKKEN GET KTS. (I know i would.)

Enter a local car meet:

Sick drifter: I've got Kei Office, ladies. . .

Ladies: We'll will immediately commence in having sex with you.

End scene.

Get the KTS, they're cheaper, and you can use the rest of the money to get other car stuffs. They have a good reputation, and they don't cost your arm, torso, and 3 of your less desirable toes.

I also say KTS, cause I got mine today. They look really sturdy, nice welds, adjustable for your needs, inverted mono tube design, shaft protector, brake line holder on the fronts, and most of all great service from kuah.

I have ridden in my friends car with KTS which made me a believer.

How do you guys feel about Kei Ofice TEs or the new Tein Super Drift?

my friend really wants some KeiOfice for his hatchi. I was going to get Tein Super Drift Damper Kit, but I ended up getting a used Tomei setup. Saved some money that i can use on the engine :D

Tein Super Drift's are brand new, literally new on the market. If you can talk the retailer into selling the kit cheap, you could probably get away with it.

Pudula

would 10k/8k spring rates be that bad? The damping on these is supposed to be a "new" system, so wouldn't that help?

Reason i say this: the Kei Office are on a month backorder... I really can't wait that long, my wheel gap in front is killing me.

PS: KTS - they may be really good, but they won't fit my "brand-whore" scheme like i would like.

Let's hear from the GR-6 people - if those are streetable, the Teins will be too.

Any thoughts on the Tanabe DD Coilovers?

Ok I owned myself, i'll read the thread next time.

I don’t feel like making another thread so I am going to ask a quick question about my kts coils. When they mean 15way does it mean 15 clicks from the first click? Or 15clicks total? Because I have 16 clicks total. just wondering because its been bothering me for awhile

FOr the money, I would say the Megan would be a good bu at 800 dollars. I am going to be running D2 which I got for much cheaper than usually offered. They are nice quality and are great for the money. I drove a car with the type flex and I have to say, the cr with the D2 on there was much smoother and very controlled. With either of them, that would save you some money to buy other stuff.

10/8 springs are kinda stiff, but nothing you can't get used to.
how stiff a coilover feels has a lot more to do w/ valving than the spring (unless you run on like....12/10 or something crazier).
KTS are smooth as hell until you turn them all the way up. my buddy's coupe is about as smooth as my car (w/ MR coils) until around 12 clicks....then it gets bumpier.
only thing that sucks about MR is the damn 32 adj. levels. it gets old....but i also play with my settings a lot...still haven't found what i truly like f/r.

raen419, do you like those MR coilovers? You said they were fairly smooth, and for the money they might be a better buy than the D2.

I used to have Zeal V6's on my coupe, they are very nice. Just keep all the paper work on the coilovers if you ever want to service them, it will make it easier.
