the kind that lets you have your own life...sucks to be you :ghey:
You're going to have to go out of the city to go to all the recyclers and places with good deals. If you can read Japanese pick up a copy of Option and hit up the stores close to where you are. You can call to find directions to the stores. I did that where I was in Japan last time.
As for Autobacs, its fun to visit just because everything is there and you can just pick it off the shelf. Get on the Autobacs web site and find the store location near you. http://www.autobacs.com
Kinda hard to find the car places unless you know someone who is in the area or know Japanese. Any tourist help booth and other places will not be able to help you. (I've asked...) Good luck!

sup man, because all the good shops are outside of the city, it's best to go up to some random guy (or girl if you're lucky)with a nice car and just hope he can understand english and is nice enough to help you out.
also, like ZK said, go to a bookstore or like a 711 and pick up an option mag and start calling around. Don't forget about the junkyards! hope you're having fun!

UP GARAGE! There are some magazines with maps of all the up garage locations. They advertise random stuff they have at each store. I don't remember the magazine name. Stupid me left it behind. There are quite a few around if you are near tokyo. My friend and I were able to go to 3 in a day using the JR and very limited japanese. I remember the last one we went to was in Chiba.

Border is just down the road from me. I might have some time this weekend to give you a ride to a couple of places. Border is just down the road, along with Evolutions. There's a nice Up Garage about 30 minutes away from here. Also, there is an Up Garage I know of on the outskirts of Yokohama. There's a Parts-Off about ten minutes from me. Also, locally there is Tanaka Engineering. You buy gas and tolls of course. PM me. I'll shoot you my cell number.

How much do you guys think it would cost for a one week trip to Japan? I have always wanted to go.

I went to japan last summer. I found a pretty good deal on expedia. Round trip fare cost me $609 for an entire month. When I got to Japan i just picked up a google parts book at a 7-11. It has directions and parts pictures to browse through. Each page was a shop selling their stuff. In alot of the pages are advertisements for Up Garage which show directions to each upgarage store in Japan. Just went to randon japanese people and asked for directions.

Damn... your GF is owning you. If i was you, i'd give her only one "be stupid" day.
You should have brought your USDM junk, like your taillights, and badges. Those go like gold there.
After buying anything, ask for the bukkake special. Thats some good JDM shit right on its own.

Thats not a bad Idea. If we got 5-10 zilvians to take a trip, it one be a trip to remember. It would be great seeing us go to the junk yards, and scatter like roaches. Coming back and seeing what everyone managed to get. It would be like 7 days of christmas. Drinking, girls and car parts. Im renting a benz, Im going to lure as many as possible. We would have so much fun. We could all go in fall or spring, which ever. I bringing empty lugage bags, and wearing the same cloths. Lets do it, I call for a road trip sticky!

Good idea (not on board myself, Im too poor and busy) but more importantly why would you go to Japan and end up in the non main land area? From what i'm told Oki is riddled with Gajin, and not much else.... Get to main land, bitches!
Either way get me some cheap Bee R* B5 in bronze for my efforts, see ya bitches.

And for once, WTF is harajuku? Is that some kinda JDM lingo for slut or something?

SERIOUSLY.. although the cheapest I can find for airfare alone is 800 bux, I figure if I get a few ecus, ignitors and some various other sthi, I can pay for the trip or nearly pay for it. although that wouldnt be the only reason I would go, but I sure as shit would go if I could guarentee to get at least half my loot back. I was just worried about getting there and shit isnt there or its more expensive there. I really wanna go.
harajuku is a hot spot for teens, a lot of trends come out of the spot, lots of street people I donno im just recycling shit i found on google. im sure it has another meaning like slut or something. dono.

Is it Junkyard places like here in the states where you can just rome around? 800$ is not bad, but we would need to find a place like the Extended-Stay, Where its $250 for a week. Split the rooms to 2-3 people, bring $700-$1000 for buying "junk" and $200 for food. I can talk to my importer about shipping all our stuff on his next container, (not bs-ing). We would not have to pay crap, and we could get wheels, aswell as heavy things like turbos, motors, exhausts etc... I would recomend small rare things if your looking to make money If your want jdm tyte stuff for your car we would have free shipping, aslong as you dont buy a bunch of front clips, in that case we would have to pay for space in the container, but something like 6 cubic feet would be fine. I think $2k should be enough to take a nice trip. Maybe 2.5k. What do you think.

high five snail, and I figured why these guys pay less, they live on the west coast, blah, but still 800 isnt too bad like you said.

just deleted my post, i didnt notice that he already came back.
anyway sinc ei already bumped the thread i accident i mite as well give advice to ne1 who wants to go and get car parts. aside from junkyards, get the magazine GOO PARTS. they hav pretty good deals on used equip and new stuff. and its pretty strait forward if u cant understand japanese altho u need a car to go just about any racing shops in japan.
i find cheaper stuff on BBS but i think if u dont speak japanese its impossible , if u can than go for it tho .
95zilvia
06-17-2005, 05:49 AM
if you're going to japan, you dont want to buy BBS crap. they have so much other tite shit. damn, i wish i coulda stayed a few more days but its ok
harajuku is like, where crazy fashion happens in japan
advice. there is no car shit in the city, you gotta goto the country
junk yards in japan are not like the places in japan from what ive been told, basically, its you goto a "junk yard", and you tell em what you need, and they will either source it for you, or maybe they'll have it in stock. japans too small to have a pick-n-pull.

I'm 99.99932431234123% sure he's referring to japanese bulletin board systems (BBSs), and not the wheel manufacturer BBS.
