check your fuel pump...it might be shutting off...i bet bad fuel pump.
Maybe not....could be your fuel pump RELAY or your ECU relay. Relays will give you intermittent problems like the ones your are experiencing now.

before you buy a new pump, check your fuel pump fuse and relay. I didn't hear my either one day and the fuse was blown. it will only take a second to check.

In my humble experience, I might ask if the TPS has been tested, and if not, is your car idling poorly before it shuts offs. A faulty ignition module/coil has a tendency of doing the same thing after voltage has passed though it for a period of time. Then after the module/coil cools (flowing voltage creates resistance, resistance in any electrical circuit creates heat, yada yada...) it is able to restart. I am not a certified mech, or anything, but hopefully it might be another point if addressed, may or may not solve your problems. I hate hearing about a fellow 240 owner whom is experiencing difficulties. Best of luck.

that could be it too the only thing is now well as for me it wont start at all its turning but not starting and thats cause of no gas going to the engine and its my pump. tps is very important if your car starts and idle incorrectly then it could be that but it should be able to start right away. if it doesn't like me then it has to be something else...oldy whats going on so far???

oldy did u try spraying ignite fluid in the throttle yet?
and see if it starts . if it turns on and shuts right off then its ur pump. that means its not getting gas..

well i know im bringing up my old post but my car is really haveing some Intermitent (excuse spelling) problems, i did what everyone posted and thanks again for the help, i even had my dads mechanic friends take a look at the 240, they still couldnt find anything, so i gave up, took it to Nissan, its been in the shop for a week, Nissan cant figure out whats going on with the car, and to top it off its having an added problem, now the car wont crank anymore, the Nissan mech had to do some bypassing, in order to get the starter to fire, Nissan mech says it something elctrical but cant figure it out, everyone that has looked at my car is at a loss.......
Well if anyone else has any ideas thank you in advance
Im also contimplating if i should sell the car, and just get another 240

i had almost the same problem a few months back also. what i ended up doing was taking out one of the fuel pump relays and swapping it with another used one. after that i never had problems again. it was
[email protected]#*in' frustrating. well hope this helps.
