My pilot bearings GONE... grinds everytime I push the clutch. I know its the PB for sure cuz a Nissan Trans specialist test drove and confirmed... seemed like it was never seated rite since my frend did the 5 speed swap, and clutch kick in 1st gear one nite finally made it grind consistently.

My folks are cool with letting me use their garage, but not more than a few days. And on my own, this job would probly take me long. I never dropped a trans b4, heard it sucks on s13s. Lemme kno if anyone in the Bay Area can help :hyper:

fawk it dude, take it to a shop, droppin trannys are bitches unless you have a lift....did it once on a friends car, and never want to do it again. it really sucks changing the clutch in the driveway or garage floor, its so compact under there, its just a bitch!

sup man, it's not THAT hard... though it is a pain. you could do it in a day if you really wanna push it.
a couple of days would be enough, 1 day to drop and another to put it back up. just have tall jackstands an you'll be ok.
i might be able to help you out, just let me know when.

not that hard, have the car on jackstands way high as you can, disconnect the drivestaft, remove the transmission mount bolts, then you should have room to remove the tranny from the engine, use a jack and make sure its on it securely, wiggle it out of place then lower it down slowly. peace of cake! well it also could be you need to bleed your fluids, id do that first.

hm... yeh, i just dont want to pay the shops $300. I have all the tools, I have 4 jackstands. Do u put them on the side rail, where theres the little rectangle patch/reinforcement behind the scissor jack spot, or on 3in wide the chassis rails? Not much rail to work with in the back since it curves up...

hey donovan, whens good for you? Im not doing anything now, jus lookin for a job :/ Lemme know whens good, Ill buy u some food or beer or sumthing... haha

Well, if you're looking to use a lift or rent a space, there's www.bayareamotorclub.com. It's not east bay, but they do rent by hour, day, or month. I go there occassionally when things take all day or when I'm too lazy to crawl under my car.

hey, i know its kinda late on this thread, but uh i sacked up with some help from a friend and put in my clutch. saved me 200 bucks, and did it in about 6 hours with 2 people. keep in mind this was changing the clutch, AND the bearings, so you will probably be able to do it in a little less time. goodluck (and if you already did it, then im late so disregard it! lol)
