I need to have my KA's valve stem seals changed, does anyone know any good shops in the 916 or 415? i'm gonna go ahead and cross out MotorSports dynamics or Evolution (either too expensive or too shady).

Along the way, I'll probably have them install an S13 248exhaust cam, to upgrade the 240/248 setup I already have in there, and also fix a power steering leak.

I am in the same shoes. I need to find a shop near 415 or 408 or 510 for some serious engine building. If I cant, then I will go with some socal shops down at LA/SD. Anyone know any reputable shop that's not extremely expensive?

Although not exactly cheap I'd recommend Auto HQ in Redwood City. They mainly work on Subaru WRX and STI but pretty much work on any car.

Price is decent. I think they charge like $80 or $90 an hour for labor. They might be able to work with you on the price if its a big job. The main guy Kevin used to be the Master Technician at Carlsen Subaru, is ASE certified in everything and extremely precise and detail oriented. He has been building cars in HK, Japan and the US for over 10 years. Any work is by appointment only.

Definitely get what you pay for and beats having some high school/college kids wrenching on your car for pennies at a "tuner" shop. They are not a store so they don't push you to buy their parts.

I have had work done by both Rebello and by Comptech. Both are very reputable. Terry is probably a bit cheaper and I've never used him, but have heard good things. Also, expensive is all a relative term. You can get it done cheaper, but are you getting quality. If you're taking the time to strip a motor apart and rebuild... get it done right.
