ok i know that the ssq can change its sound by changing the little color thing inside. wat i want to know if the stock thing inside is wat makes this noise http://www.935motorsports.com/media/HKSssqvRX7.wmv . that whistle noise is wat im looking for. do i need to change the insert or does it do it with the stocker?

Those inserts don't change the sound a whole lot imo.

Just adjust the screw on top. If it's backed out, the air will release easier and will have a longer sound.

If the screw is tighter, the sound will be tighter and quicker as well. At least on my car this is how it works.

There are 2 inserts you can buy, one of them is identical to the stock one just different color. The other changes the sound slightly, not sure how much, but if you want that sound, thats how it sounds with the stock insert.

IIRC. the ssq is the older version and doesn't use an insert. The latest model is the SSQV which has different inserts.

shoot i changed turbos and my SSQ sounded different. Must be cause of the higher volune of air going tru it. Like 2JZ said, tighten it and itll change sounds.

You guys do know that they didn't install that screw so you could change the sound right? It's so you can dial it in to your setup. Shouldn't be loose enough to leak at idle, but not much tighter than that to avoid boost surging into your closed TB plate.
