last  night after a good nite sleep, i woke up and go to work.
I try to start the car but it wont start. i called up my friend and asked him about it, he told me to go out to the hood and use a wrench to knock on the starter. i knocked on the starter and it start. this afternoon the car wont start, again i went out and knock on the starter but this time it wont work. after one hour of playing around with the clutch and the starter, it still wont start. Infact i heard a clinking noise at the starter. Please help me solve this problem, i need the car to go to work, any tips to get the car running again? thanks alot
My car is a 91 5speed.

clicking = solenoid... tapping it usually kicks the solenoid or loosens the motor brush... if it worked once but won't work again the probable cause is a bad starter, which means rebuilding it or getting a new one (rebuilding is for the brave).  another option would be to try and jump start it... the car might have just enough power to engage the solenoid but not enough to kick the engine over....

just some thoughts on it anyways...

good luck

hey AceInHole
is it hard to install a starter? have you done it before?
this is like a bolt on replacement right, it shouldnt be any problem or hard time right?
Ken thanks for helping.
