do you have that feature set to ON?

User CP > Edit Options on the Side > check "The forum can send a message to your email address to inform you when someone sends you a private message.
Receive Email Notification of New Private Messages"

anyone have an install write up on this. It's awlays been interesting, but I've never heard how hard it is to install and what the pros/cons are.
