I'd get some type of acoustic carpet, flush mount the speakers, and cover the whole thing so that it looks just like a rear seat delete cause honestly those speakers I think, will look kinda random in that big ass rear seat delete and 2 little teeny tiny speakers......
I'm not a sound guy by any means (uhhh I think the most I'v ever had in my cars for a system was replaced front speakers and a decent head unit and just stripped the trunk and stuff so no rear speakers...

okay, i'll reitterate for those of you that suck at reading comprehension:

"i just finished getting the main part done"

the main part being the huge backboard. this implies (very effectively) that the box that should exist just doesnt at this time and will definately come into being in the near future. i've yet to work the details out for the lower part but it'll look all tidy and all that jazz

oh yeah, why the sudden carpentry bug? say hello to my little friend:

Hey there Texan, what store did you score that? I can't find it anywhere here in San Antonio...I order it from thinkgeek.com and used to special order from Albertsons, but they were scared off by the local grocer chain, H-E-B.

yeah i had a 02 spec-v and those subs need a sealed box and since you have two, make a piece to seperate the subs(this will help). Plus those subs i blew like two of those in my old car, i do mis the spec-v but i dont miss the problems that i had with it.

I just sold my spec v recently. I was I guess one of the lucky ones who didn't have hella problems with the car. I got the rf audio package, but ripped every single piece of that crap out and did a custom anyway =P

i've known a couple people with specV's and they're nice cars despite how overrated they are. this one guy i knew really thought his car was on the level with RX8's and such.

05-25-2005, 06:23 PM
i did this to my last 240... there are some pics here http://www.cardomain.com/member_pages/view_page.pl?page_id=333349

its not pictured, but i put a 10" sub between the two 6x9's

and the little cargo space was mounted on the swivel hinges that hold up the back part of the seat

as for carpet, homedepot is where i got mine...

after a while, i didnt like it and wished i would have done something else... i use a backseat too often

the subs weigh maybe 10lbs together. can't possibly be more than 15.

my whole "system" (punch 55, two stock sized pioneers, and the two 8" subs) can't possibly weigh over 35lbs with the head unit (when decide on one). i'll probably use a strip of metal painted black to screw down a layer of black carpet where i layed foam to keep things uniform.

this is why i take my time and constantly lay groundwork for future things. it gives me time to figure out how i want everything. the box will be covered in black carpet to match the rest of the interior.

I am not digging the extra weight you just added to your car. All I need is a cd player and one door speaker haha I don't get into the whole subs, and sound system deal.

yeah just mount a speaker on the back of your headrest...done deal

Are you planning on sealing the box at all? Also, I think you should've mad the box a bit bigger myself, but im no pro on ultra tight sound systems.

its made to specs from what i understand. it should work 100% fine. just needs carpet!

the box will get carpet next week. i still dont have a deck so there's no need to rush. i sealed up the box tonight and tomorrow i'll cover the entire backside with bedliner to match my trunk's floor then cover the front with carpet.

the project is goin really well.
