REDing sparkplugs

No, I did not mis-spell it. I took my plugs out to take a look at and clean them. Funny thing is, I've never ever in my life seen a spark plug turn red on the ceramic and the ground. Weird.
The reason I pulled them for inspection/cleaning is because I've been getting a sputter only in WOT at around 3500RPM's, right about when the boost kicks in. Tell me what you think. Here's some pics. Really crappy, had to take the pics with my cell phone. But the red in the pics are pretty close to reality, they are almos like a dark brick red. Not rusty lookin, but almost burgandy. BTW, the plugs are Denso Iridiums.

have you been running octane booster? I have seen certian ones that will cause that

actually, last tank I used that 104 stuff. Kinda have to use some kind of octane booster. Japanese gas is way to expensive and the piss water on base is the only other alternative. JP gas comes to around $4+ a gallon. Thanks for the info though.

Red to purple deposits on one side of the core nose are an indication of a fuel additive. While many of these deposits are non-conductive and do not contribute to lack of performance, some fuel additives contain octane boosters that leave conductive deposits on the core nose. Care should be taken to select fuel additives which are compatible with ignition systems and do not contain conductive materials such as octane boosters.

well, I finally got my but out of bed early enough to make it to the auto hobby shop during the day (I work nights). I got a spark plug gap gauge, and with a quick search on here, found out what I needed to know and, WALA!! My S/P gap somehow expanded tremendously. I was able to slip almost a 0.040 in there. I regapped the plugs, took her for a spin, and wudaya know!! No more hiccups. Well another problem solved with the help of the Zilvia community, mahalos to da Zilvians. Funny, "Zilvia", but yet I haven't seen a Z owner on here besides CPark in a loooooong while.
