Anyways..lets see...so i passed my smog, all great! and then as i got home..i decided to put my HK intake back on..okai on the process of take all that oem plastic intake stuff out..i accidently broke the MAF adaptor...okai fine..so i put it back together..start the car..and its like misfireing and blowing out black smoke..like the timing was off..anyways..as i wiggle the plug on the maf(still broken) it sounds better..but when i let go there it goes again..okai..thats fine..i thoguht it was juss minor and just turn off the car and unplug the battery to let it reset. Put it back in later..and nothing..Later i got another Maf..it still does the same thing..blowin black smoke and misfireing when im driving..oh and the car juss dies as i put it on netural..can't seem to figure out the problem...
i checked
all the sensors and still nothing..vaccum is lines are all in..

why did you have to take off the intake in the first place>? HKS SMF is carb legal...I passed with mine on. Btw,you might want to change it to a K&N filter as most sponge filters only filter the bigger microns and letting the lil dust still go through the filter. Mine didn't filter enough and messed up my maf. So now I have a K&N. It pulls better than the HKS smf :boink:

Check for a bad ground on the MAF (just ground to the chassis for a good connection), clean the contacts on the MAF, and ensure that a good seal is made on the MAF adapter to MAF.

you have to take the ECU and mess with the twist thing with a screw driver...http://www.240sx.org/faq/index.html go there..

i did this..
Find the computer(Behind the plastic piece by the passenger foot
Pull it out
Turn your key to the on position
You will see a flathead screw looking bolt on 1 side of the computer. Turn this fully clockwise
Wait at least 2 seconds
Turn it back to fully counterclockwise
This will then show the trouble code - (The check engine light will blink to show this, for instance, blink..blink..blink......blink..blink, will be 32)
After you read the code, you can start the engine
Turn the bolt back to the clockwise position for at least 2 seconds(While running)
Turn it back to the counterclockwise position
Now shut the car and then start it again, this should of removed the code.
as i put it on the ON mode..the looked at the screw..it wasn't flat headed..it was juss a hexagon bolt..and then i juss unscrewed it..the check engine light went off..i was started to wait for the code..but nothing...so i juss screwed it in again..and same thing happened..
