wassup all...alright...i am wondering if there is a difference between the E5 ECU and the 62 ECU?? i have a blacktop SR motor and it didn't come with the stock ECU it came with some type of tuned one...which i found out was f*d up!!! so i need a stock one...i know the E5 came stock with the Blacktop SRs and the 62s came with the Redtop...and i heard that they're interchangable...so i want to make sure with you guys...and i've searched and couldn't find anything more specific...and i know someone knows so it would be a lot easier to ask then try to sift out 100s of posts and hours of looking...so any help would be appreciated...thnx! :smash:

the ecu's are interchangeable int he fact that either will run your motor. however. the O2 sensors are not interchangeable and will cause poor gas milage. you should run the O2 sensor that matches your ECU.

skinny for 62/63

fat for E5.

I hate to argue with the master on this one, but I was just facing this issue and in my case they run the car differently...

Using a '93 240sx, Wiring Specialties pre-made engine/transmission harness & redtop S13 sr20det engine.

The car runs perfect with the 62 ecu.
Swapped to an E5 ecu and I have a noticeable misfire, and no tach signal. Those were the 2 things I immediately noticed.

Just to forewarn some people.

I have a redtop running an E5 ecu, using the fat O2 sensor. Runs fine, has been for a couple years. Hope that helps.

could this be a bad ecu possibly or not running the proper o2 sensor?

The #62 ECU will work with a Fat O2 sensor, it just needs to be wired right.

I have a #62 in my car right now, using the fat O2, flipping a narrowband gauge correctly, if you seek proof.
