question about SMOG in cali

SMOG is needed every 2 years in cali right? how come i got a notice in the mail saying i need to do a SMOG again? it's a bitch to get it pass last year and i gotta go through this shit again? :duh:

If you fail as a Gross Polluter, then you'll have to test it for 3 consecutive year.

1st year as initial or bienniel. Fail GP.
2nd year, is to make sure the the repairs on the first year is correct.
3rd year, you're back on your bienniel cycle.

last year i failed on the first try cause of a bad 02 sensor, i changed it myself and second test it passes with flying colors. so is that why i had to do it again this year?cause of the i didn't pass it on the first try last year? thanks for the informations btw..........

It's not that you failed on your first try. But you failed as a Gross Poilluter, and then you had to go to a test-only/referee to had it certified, correct?

Unless, you bought the car last year inbetween the smog year, and now you'll have to do it agian this year to get back on the 2year cycle.
