View Full Version : T-3 Super 60 Dyno numbers using JWT ECU program

Well I have had my turbo setup for almost a year and have finally dynoed my car. I was happy with my results, but glad that I know where it is at now.
My setup:
JWT ECU w/ 50lb program
Cobra MAFS
550cc injectors
255 lph walbro fuel pump
Turbo: Super 60 T-3 turbo
The first lines are at 7psi
The second line is at 11psi
The third line is at 13 psi
It seems like the turbo is coming alive after every increase in boost level, but the big problem is the a/f ratio, it is just crazy, at 3500 rpm the a/f ratio is below 10 a/f. Looking at the 3600 rpm level the horsepower and torque curve drop until 5200 rpm. It must mean that the a/f ratio is significantly lower than the 10. There is easily power to be had from all three boost settings. All three pulls were done on 3rd gear. In the mean time I plan on getting a safc to improve the a/f ratio, which should also improve throttle response.
Let me know what yall think about the dyno numbers.

Those A/Fs suck. I'd send it back to JWT I think. That's nearly undrivable.. and seems to be what I have (with my 18mpg).
The dyno curve scares me too.. it's a parabola. And shouldn't be. Your peak torque isn't where it's supposed to be, and seeing as a turbocharger is supposed to increase the stock curve (and not make it's own curve), you have a massive issue. 7psi = 130hp shows this issue. I've seen stock KAs dyno at 144rwhp.

550cc side feeds on a system designed for 525cc top feeds (50lb) is the problem for sure.

Good god man. :( That's absolutley terrible. At 7psi you've actually lost or made no power over a stock 240.
I made nearly 220rwhp at only 6psi on a tiny ass z31 T3, 370's and safc.

The A/f's on this dyno graph are not accurate though. I use a plx m300 wideband and tuned this car via street pulls to 12:1 and 12.5:1 after peak torque and then dyno'd it to see how well I did. Dyno reading are from the dyno facilities 02 sensor that they stuck in the muffler after the cat so they read about a point leaner and seem to richen up after peak torque...

That torque is super confusing. super 60's are extremly fast spooling turbos, thats just whacky. I bet everything is in your tuning. Ditch that JWT shite and step up to Enthalpy. He has customer service and can dial it in to your needs almost out of the box. The only problem is that you would need to ditch the Cobra MAF for him. Sucks that it has been so long because I would honestly demand a refund from JWT if it was any sooner. Sorry for not being supportive of the dece 13psi numbers but that isnt right. You should be making what you are at 13psi at 10psi with more torque and a better curve/power band

Damn! That sucks. Im guessing your rear bumper is black?. But for real, invest in a widband and a fuel controller, and dont let those numbers have your nickers in a twist.

550cc injectors running on a 525cc program seems like a 5% too rich issue. I'm probably wrong, but can't that be translated to 5% of a/f's being off. I can't see that making the parabola, and losing power vs. stock.
Fastpace, see Kouki's graph? That's the type of curve that all KA-Ts make. Mine, Klattr1s,
[email protected]'s. Different heights, but 240sx stock torque peak (4400rpm) usually remains within a few hundred rpm. Yours got shifted a thousand, making me thing there's a bigger issue (timing? fuel in the single-digit area (9:1)?)

Yep, the bumber is black, all the time. I am going to call jwt and see what they say, I might just send it back in and get it programmed for the 550cc injectors. Just by looking at the curve I think the a/f ratio is in the 7's because of the huge deep it is in the middle range.
Oh yeah here is a pic of the bumper:

I honestly think it is the program I have, the injectors are too big just by alittle for the program. What was the lowest a/f ratio you had on your JWT at the time? I drive the car daily and haven't witnessed any problems driving. The only thing that has happened at times is an idle issue that happens once or twice when I am at a stop light, it bounces from 200-700 and then corrects itself. The weird thing is that I average 20 mpg when I am not on it. I will eventually get a wideband and see what I am runnin.

Usally you'll get better MPG off boost cause the spining turbo gives the motor a little better volumetric efficiency. If you can't tell by your bumper you're blowing gass out you rear. The injectors would only make a half point change in your a/f. I say the JWT program sucks and is your problem. this is why most people use a AFC with the JWT. I would send him the dyno and demand your money back and them get some better management. You should be able to hit 50hp more at least.

Yeah I knew just by the bumper and the smell of gas inside the car. I will let yall know what they say tomorrow, if I would have to spend more than 500 bucks to fix the richness problem I am just going to go aem standalone.

most 50lb/cobra mafs JWT ecu programs tend to run high 10's in the afrs in the first place. so put in bigger injectors than what its programmed for, i would be willing to believe it could be in the mid 9's (unreadable on the chart).
