So i noticed that at the dealer i work at we have a black 96 S14 AUTO for sale. A trade in that will be sent to an auction at the end of the week. I wont know the price untill Thirsday but i honestly dont know how much it woudl be worth in its condition. i already have 98 Kouki so trying to get my buddy to buy it for a project car.

odometer shows 60k but does not work
very loud rattel/soft knock from timing cover(not PS or water pump)
rear struts shot(not reallly a problem since AGX will take their place soon)
oil leaks everywhere...as expected
small chip in windshield but no crack
all 4 rotors are warped but once again not a problem. z32 brakes will go there
smokes pretty bad off idle

interior is in good codition and so is the paint(except fron bumper paint is pealing) and no dents.

i am thinking anything over 2k is not worth it...any coments?

most important is to check the frame, any accidents...
all other crap can be changed, engine, tranny, susp... etc...
especially if this is a project car

I'm betting your dealership paid around $200-400 for that.
Broken cluster gauges.(Suggest that the milage can be significantly more)
"oil leaks everywhere" (Obviously the engine has been abused for a great deal of time.)
The smoke is due to the horrible engine condition.

I wouldnt pay $200 for a car like that. EVERYTHING will have to be replaced. Aside from the interior.

If the body itself is all intact though, that's a big plus. At least $500 for a good zenki body.

agreed, if the frame is straight offer em 500. they didn't give much for that car at all in that condition.

well i found an inspection slip in the car from last year and it says it has 51k on it then ...thats about year ago so my guess is it is at most 70k. i did get it on the lift and check the frame....thats fine without any damage. Oil leaks are from engine only tranny is bone dry

do these details change your opinion any?

unfortunately price they will give me will not be negotiable(should find out today)

c heck the fender bolts for tampering. if they look all unjacked with the odds are the frame is okay.

well if you look it over and the frame is straight , you can get yourself one hell of deal . Secret here is to remember your dealership got the car for free!! Yes free, reason being, is rule of thumb in car sales is whatever they give someone for trade in, thats how much they raise the price on the new car, through hidden charges or just plain markup.
Fact is that car is worth more on the open market than they will wholesale it for. You need to talk to your wholesale manager , he is the one that determines how much they will sell it to a employee, rather than send it to auction.
These prices, people are throwing at you, here on the forum, is random speculation at best and complete lowballing at worst. On the open market, that car would be sellable even in its current state, at $2500-3500 fix a few things and the value would shoot to $5500 .
This is not lost on your wholesale manager , his job is to know, exactly what I just told you , so he can determine if a particular vehicle is worth holding onto to put on your dealers used lot, or wholesale it off, cause they, A: don't want to bother with certain things, they might not be sure about, or B: Its value is not high enough, to warrant going onto their used lot.
Bottom line is how cool he is. Yup its that simple , a cool wholesale manager will hook you up for a very sweet deal. An asshole will jack the price up or just send it to auction regardless of your interest. Both types are quite common hahhahhaha.
Use the pricing info I gave you to make a informed choice on a figure you want to pay. Ask they guy what he thinks they would let you get it for, then shoot him your offer if its more than what you want to pay.
good luck. Yes I would go for that car if I were you. At worst you will fix the problems and make money hahahhahhahahha
