They got other seats too: http://www.autoaccessorystore.com/products/960_b.jpg

Seems decent, but they're full buckets are priced along any other high end buckets. Why go with a no-name? No FIA specification?

5-Star rating from whom? the seller? I wouldn't trust that.
These seats look just like every other "knockoff" type seat, just like ebay, or the ones in the GB, etc. General consensus is that these types are no comparison when matched with real race seats (bride, etc), but are more than fine for just replacing your tattered OEM seats, or upgrading your daily driver. Unless you're a hardcore autosports competitor, they should be fine.

i beg to differ actually...in a daily driver, safety is far more important then a track car.

for example:

when in a track situation will you be:
-rear ended at a dead stop?
-T boned by at an intersection
-flip your car down a ditch

just a few situations that are much more possible in street driving then on a track. These are all situations that would be fatal if your seat were to be unsafe and detach from its mounting points or fail to hold you properly during the accident

-When staging for the your session
-Pulling out of the hot pits onto the track
-rolling over a banked turn (i guess that's over into a ditch :Ownedd: )

At any rate, first two are stupid accidents you have no control of for the most part because they are accidents, but the 3rd, that's your own damned fault if you find yourself in a ditch. You shouldn't be driving that fast anyway.

Good points all, hence why I had my first statement:

But probably the best question is:
Are these cheapie seats better quality than your (up to) 16 year old seats?
Remember, for most cars, that's a lot of time, a lot of miles, and most likely mutiple owners who you don't know how they treated the car. If your seats are trashed (like my old 240, who's passenger seat would recline by itself if you leaned back really hard), then yes, I'd say these would be a great deal safer! :) hahaha

I'm pretty sure those carbon Netami seats are a layer of carbon over something else. Maybe they are for real, but I'm willing to bet that carbon fiber is just a thin layer over everything else.

The buckets look pretty nice...there's no way they have FIA homologation though.

My zetaIII is FIA, has the date of manufacture and everything. I'd probably pass on these and get something nicer. If you want to go cheap, might as well get something cheaper than Netami because there's soo many low-priced seats now-a-days.

Somethign remidns me that these seats were in Modified Mag and featured at The latest Tokyo Auto Salon...not 100 percent sure, but that name does ring a bell...

EDIT**

THese are on page 172 of the 'Top Tuners Special Edition' of Modified Mag...they were also on display at the 2004 Sema show...

my mistake guys...

(The ones pictured in the mag look extremely like Sparco Fighter seats...)

I think the first ones posted are ugly, and I agree that there really is no proof as to what this "5 Star Saftey Rating" is gauged by. The second ones posted aren't too bad. I like the white, but I would get it ultra dirty haha. I think you should get a used set of Brides or Sparcos off Ebay, it will probably cost a bit more but at least you are getting something that is quality, etc.

Netami is a division of 3A racing (American Auto accessories) so they're kinda like APC. I wouldn't touch that shit with a 10 foot pole.

for $4oo-500 just save a little bit more and pick up an FIA-Rated sparco bucket sheesh. spend so much on something not even FIA rated especially a seat.

Buddy price.

For street price it's like $680 plus $35 shipping if they don't try to make money on shipping. Really it's not too much more than what I paid.

My bracket was pretty expensive though, $200 plus shipping from Japan.

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but i got to sit in this seat at autobacs. For anyone who is interested, do NOT buy this product. When i sat down i leaned side to side to see if it was sturdy...the darn seat flexed as a leaned with almost no resistance, you could twist this seat with your hands....

I would NEVER buy this seat but...
You can flex just about any other seat with your hands, bride included.

Did it have the reistance of... soft rubber? thin fiberglass(like 2 sheets)?

Just curious.

Seemed like a thin fiberglass shell with carbon cover, much like cf hoods. The fabric seems okay though. It was somewhat comfortable though.

Yes.. only because they were in a magazine not too long ago. I thnk they make those cheap apc style reclineables though.

I'm not able to flex a Bride seat with my hands. I'd have to stand on it and try to twist it. I honestly mean, grab the top and the bottom, push it opposite directions, and it would spin around. its like sitting in a reclinable office chair, but it moves side to side not backwards.

that's b/c they are :faint:

think about it this way......if you drive the car on the street......and you have cheap seats......that says something about your concern for yourself and your passenger (if they have the same cheap seat).......you may not realize it when you're buying the seat......you're probably thinking "hehe.....those suckers paid XXX.XX for their Bride seat when i got the exact same seat as a knock off for half the price".......however......when you get into an accident (god forbid) and the seat twists into a pretzel or folds in half with you in the middle of it.......you're going to regret having not saved the extra XXX.XX dollars in order to buy a pair of Bride seats.......and even if those Bride seats aren't FIA approved......at least you know that the quality is there and that it will not crumble of fold up on you in the event of an accident

i would rather walk than get into a car that has a cheap aftermarket seat in it (or i'd ride in the backseat)

Late,
Daniel

I was at Super AutoBacs the other week and I had a chance to sit in the Netami bucket. I found it rather comfortable compared to the Zeta they had on display. Thats just my opinion as far as feel went. However, as far as safety is concerned, I wouldn't trust it. For the $400-$500 price tag, I rather save my money and buy a brand new Sparco Corsa for $425 at the Sparco USA Warehouse Sale.

Haha, i'll have to... :p

Honestly, they are about $400-$500. For another $100, you can get the New Zeta III sport, which will still put those Netami's to shame...

i sat in the one with the integrated helmet supports, they were the flimsiest shit ever. it moved like 3-4 inches with very light pressure, in either direction. the leg bolsters would move in and out 1-2 inches. VERY weak shell. the cf / kevlar is a single layer wet coating on top of some fiberglass. adds like no rigidity.
