just FYI, if you can find an LSD in a canadian junkyard, all 240's sold in canada came with lsd's. in the us i think they were only available with hicas, but the lsd from the 300zx will bolt in too, also i was told they required a change of 2" in driveshaft length...
at any rate there are several on ebay, so check there.
as for the hatch, all the older 240's have rust under the spoiler... its a known and common problem.

errr, not all canadian cars came with VLSD but it was more common there. It was an option in U.S. It did come with HICAS cars . Though you could order it for your car even if you did not get a Hicas car. The 300zx VLSD needs to either change the output flanges or use J30 axles to bolt in . There is no change in driveshaft length.
I do not know where your getting your info from but its not exactly correct . You should try reading past threads because the info is there .
Also word to lude , $200-250 is a rock bottom price If you really want a VLSD I can sell you one for $300 plus shipping

I have a jdm S13 VLSD for sale. Asking $350 firm. This will bolt directly to your car without any modifications or gear ratio changes. Please email at
[email protected] with further inquiries. if you need other jdm parts let me know as we get two shipments per month.

hey davies , did that come out of a normally aspirated JDM S13 ??
also did it come out of a S13 with a CA18? if so the gear ratio in it is 4.40
If its a SR20 car NA then it was a 4.08 like ours but if it was a SR20det then it has 3.70 gears.
Also if it came out of a late model JDM S13 then its got 5 blot flanges and our cars have 6 bolt.
At which point if its 5 bolt then they will need the J30 axles . I had to sell a set of those to Kid Zelda because he had a JDM 180sx VLSD and it had 5 bolt flanges.
Just thought I would ask and let you know .

well whatever, you can listen to some dude on the messager board, but i quote from the may 2002 issue of sport compact car, page 118:
"A limited-slip differential is absolutely critical for what is about to be a very powerful car, but only cars with Super HICAS had the limited slip. If you can't locate a car with one, you can find one in a junkyard from a 240sx (all Candian 240sxs had them) or a 300zx, or there are aftermarket limited slips available. If you get a 240sx limited slip, be sure to get the driveshaft as well; it's about an inch shorter."
Ok, so my first post was a little off, but a lot more accurate than whatever youre slinging.

hahahhaha if you believe everything you read in stupid street or SCC you are in trouble kid.
whatever I am slinging is fact based on information from my own experience with the cars as well as fellow Canadian members here on the forum that will tell otherwise your oh so vaunted boy racer magazine.
SCC used to be a decent mag but I see know they are getting as bad as STupid Street in spreading misinformation.
Having found S13 's in the yards with VLSD and ABS with no HIcas I have proven them wrong .
I sell VLSD's. you think I would know what I am talking about?maybe? hahahahhaha
VLSD was an option on most years and fact is if the customer ordered it they would get it. They did not have to have HICAS . I think what SCC should have said was the only S13's that came with VLSD without ordering it I.E. part of a factory setup was the HICAS cars. It was offered as an option with the ABS for the customer to purchase if they choose to.

Well said, freaq. I personally like to read SCC because they do have some good editorials and what not, buti am still in high school and sometimes I need something to read when im sitting there bored as hell. If i had the choice i would say screw the mag and make my own facts. I.E. go screw around with my own car instead of getting all my information from what i read. I could either be reading a magazine about how to drift nicely or i could go to some empty parking lot and see for myself that practice does make perfect. Anyways, just my 2 cents : ) Well back to VLSD's. I need one so i really can go to parking lot and stuff. I need a good price for the diff and also for shipping. Im gonna e mail that guy that said he has one but keep in touch with me and im sure i will find something. Thanks for all the help and its good to talk to someone that knows this stuff because inaccurate info has to be my pet pieve. Thanks again, John

Drift Freaq,
You are correct regarding the various LSD option on the the S13. I have both the 5 and 6 bolt LSD's available. Where in L. A. are you from and have you been to any road racing events here locally because one of my close friends is a track organizer and would love to see more Nissans on the track.
Again, anyone interested please let me know which you need and location for shipping. Additionally, I can get other jdm parts for all S13~15. email with any inquiries

my heart is broken and my faith is shattered...
sorry for the misinformation, i was just going by what i thought was an authority.
i want an lsd for mine this summer, i drive an 89 240sx se fastback, which lsd should i be looking for for the greatest ease in swapping?
if i can keep the stock driveshaft that makes my life so much easier.
someone told me using the 300zx lsd means 5 lug rear axles, that would make finding rims hard...
