View Full Version : Oil on plugs?

So I was doing a compression test on my SR motor. The motor was warm from driving around and we pulled the plugs and saw a little oil on them. I was told that the seals in the spark plug chamber (or whatever) are leaking so I can go to Nissan and get some for the SR. I called and they are only $1.88 each but then I spoke to Estavon with Enjuku and he said it is either...

- Check oil level in motor (could possiby be too much)
- Bad turbo is dumping oil into cylinder head
- Something about my piston seals...don't recall what he was saying

There not puddles or oil or anything like that but just you can see some oil on the plugs when you screw them out. I just want to make sure the motor is running healthy.

As for the compression test goes...

1 - 130/135'ish
2 - 125
3 - 130
4 - 130

I was told that this is about 30 points off and kind of low for a healthy SR motor.

Thanks for your info.

If you can see the oil when you pull your coilpacks its just the valve cover seals for the plugs. No big deal. Your compression numbers are low though. Make sure you're doing the test right. Warm motor, pulling the fuel pump fuse and relieveing fuel pressure, and testing with throttle wide open.

Where exactly is the fuel pump fuse & how do I relieve the fuel pressure?

Thanks for the info!
