ok... we got this new NEC-3520A dvd burner... and your computer has to be within a certaint build date to use nero... and various other programs... so you can get around the copy right protection... (note: my brother bought this burner to make backups since he has a dvd player in his car) so.... if anybody can help me change my build date so i can use this program... please let me know.... thanks...

uhh i take it you got a compaq/dell/gateway or something like that is already built right?? 1 reason why i perfer to build my own computer, cuz you can always upgrade the crap out of it, i been on the same motherboard for 3 years but still kicks ass.

Maybe search for an older version of Nero?? I never knew they do that kinda crap.

all you need is a case, mobo, video card, memory, harddrive, monitor, keyboard and mouse. Since you have most of the stuff like Monitor, CD Drive, Keyboard and Mouse, you can just get the rest. The motherboard comes with new cables so no worry there, if not then you can go to a local best buy. Get a case with 350 maybe 400+ powersupply.

You try a updating the Nero software? I had a Dell and could swap out parts with no problem. How old is the computer?

reading comprehension owns me... change the date in your bios and reinstall windows or something like that.

I have the same dvd burner oem through newegg. I havent had problems backing up anything and I'm using Official firmware too. If you have problems you should get the modified firmware that allows you to take off the the riplock, make it regionless, and rewrites the burning strategies on some of the media. It takes like 30 sec on google to find all the modified firmware out there. (voids warranty btw) It may or may not solve your problem.....you decide.

man ur tripping i have the 3500 nec burner burner and i dont have to mess with this build date crap ur talking about... I just reformated beginning of the year too.... use DVDshrink, dvddecriper or dvdxcopy to make backups of dvds... you should check out cdfreaks they have a bunch of firmware hacks for the nec burners so u can change book type to whatever you want on dvd+r's ex.. i make my backups all close with booktype DVD-ROM and region free so a majority of dvd players out tehre can play it. remember booktype changing is only available on DVD+R
