I was looking through Wards Yearsbooks today at the library and wrote this info down. I found it pretty interesting.
Sales Numbers for the 240sx...
1993-23,540
1994-15,209
1995-13,175
1996-7,029
1997-3,533
1998-2,266
1999-954(yes 1999!)
Compare thse numbers to say an Eclipse that sells ruffly 90,000 units a year, it's no wonder they stopped selling it here. :ghey: I was gonna go back further but the fiance was getting inpatient.

I think those may be a little off...years ago somone posted the NHTSA production #s, and they were verified as correct:
1998 --- ?? (I've seen some people say none, and claim they were all unsold ’97 models...)
1997 --- 3655
1996 --- 7334
1995 --- 25114
1994 --- 1167 – In ’94, they were all convertibles…
1993 --- 21471
1992 --- 27033
1991 --- 34534
1990 --- 60582
1989 --- 68118
...

I don't know. This is what I got from Ward's, and that's about as a realiable resourse as you can get.

Well somebodys has to have a 240 made in 1998 right? Interesting fact if its anywhere close to being true which it might very well be.

Makes sense to me, shouldn't the sales numbers differ from the production numbers?
For instance the may have only produced 1167 in 1994 but sales were 15000+ as at the beginning of the year the dealerships would sell off all the remaining 93's on the cheap.... that's my theory at least.
I also had believed all 98's sold in the US were unsold 97's until it was discovered the front bumper supports were different, so maybe not..

how much were S14's new? i wonder if that accounts for the reduced sales.
they were marketed towards women IIRC

The MSRP on in 1997 on the SE models was 21,999.
I speculate the biggest reason they failed was due to being rwd, everything was fwd in that price range and demographic. Seems as only BMW, Mercedes and any other high end sportier cars were able to still sell the rwd drive cars.

Price-powertrain ratio is my reason for why the car failed. It was underpowered for a high price.

Actually IIRC Ward's had the 240 topped out at $28,000!!!!
I had a 240SX nissan brochure from 97 somewhere when I went to see (they didn't let me test drive it then) the car at the dealer showroom... got to dig that up... It had the MSRP on there.

And 1999 shouldn't have been a listed year , as they stopped selling the 240SX in 1998
I cant give any proof as to weather 98s were left overs of the 97s but when I got my Carfax mine was listed as a 98 base model
does this mean our cars are rare? if so, i've got to post some "for sale" signs

did they stop selling or making in 98' ? i would imagine the 1999 sales were the leftover models from 98' still on the dealers lot ?

Really?
We needed to revive a Thread from 5 YEARS AGO so you could discuss what colors were sold?
:duh: Go read some more. Silver Moss #s have been discussed.
