I have taken over a project for a friend and he has the engine in, he has the factory harness in and modified (looks to be correct), has the jumper for the auto to manual swap instaled, and has his MAF on the coldside of his Greddy intercooler. Could this (MAF) cause a problem? Also the idle is rough, as if it was missing the center 2 cylinders. Is there anything that could be set up wrong that would cause this? Thanks in advance guys.
Red top in a 1992 240.

downlod the fsm and also do a search. There are a lot of threads on this problem that a lot of us have.
If you can't rev past 2500, it's the maf. Go through the Fsm for testing procedure and check the codes. :whip:

Anyways, clean the MAF contacts with a contact cleaner and wire a separate ground for the MAF off the chassis. Before doing that, I would verify that the voltage is correct for the MAF using the procedure outlined in the FSM. :)

So is it ok to have the MAF rite before the TB? I know this is not the traditional way of doing it.

Interesting setup. Unorthodox to say the least. The reason that manufacturers place it way ahead is for a consistent flow meter reading at the source.

Sorry, I could not get the 80s out of my head. My sister was in love with him and I can never get the "white wedding" song out of my head... :keke:

The idle is funky, when you hit the throttle it try's to bog out as if it was flooding but when you let off the throttle the rpm's will raise. You can blip the throttle all the way up to red line, there is a ritch fuel odor. It will do the same thing w/ or w/out the turbo hooked up. If it was my project :hitit:
dude...the joke here is. It's spelled idol when it's supposed to be idle.
