View Full Version : Considering getting a BMW E30 M3

I found an E30 M3 at a real good price and it's in immaculate condition, test drove the car and immediately fell in love with it. The way it drove, the way it responds to the road, the handling, it was all magical, and my S14 didn't give me that feeling where the E30 M3 does.

I'm still thinking about it, and I don't think even an SR20DET in my car would give me the satisfaction that an E30 M3 would. What I'm saying is, if you were in my position to get an E30 M3, would you sell your S14 for one? It may not be the fastest car in a straight line, but damn does it handle like a race car.

I would get an E30 M3, cause they are bad ass, look good and handle well, but i would take out the stock S14 engine, put it in my garage, (cause the stock S14 motors cost a forune to rebuild, which would likely have to be done, since they are really stressed engines high output NA) and i would drop in SR20det, plus if you save the stock motor you will get more money for the car as a whole original than w/ the SR.

Great car, kinda ex[ensive, but if you have the money go for it, its my favorite BMW

Or you can put a much better engine in the car, anything but a sr20det. But those cars are possibly my favorite car, ever. I think you should let me buy it...or you can buy it and I'll make a really good trade with you for it. Definitely get it man, just expect some things that are going to come with it. Dont go putting an sr20det in it or I will slap the shit out of you

why, not much cheaper than a stock S14 enigine, still have good balance.

My only concern is reliability. If you think 240 parts are expensive forget about BMW parts

the engine code in the E30 M3 IS S14, thats what im talking about.

It would be cheaper to Fab and put in an SR20DET in there than to rebuild the stock engine, go check how much they go for.

I can't do that, sorry guys.

Putting a non-marque motor in any car of any marque is sacrilege IMO. Hell, even putting an S50 from a '95 M3 in the E30 is sacrilege to any BMW purist.

I'm still thinking hard about it, it's been one of my dream cars since I was 14, with its wide flared fenders, the rear wing, the staunch appearance of the car, and it's race-bred nature of the vehicle, it's definitely NOT a luxo-barge sellout like the E36 and E46 M3's are these days. It's the only M3 worthy of the ///M Motorsport marque.

actually. e30 bmw parts arnt all that expensive. not to mention if you think the aftermarket support of the 240 is growing...you should seee how huuuuuugggggggeeeeeee the back up for the e30 is. build your own race car a garage. i love the s14 motor...fully built...singing itbs...distinct bmw rasp....god like handling...peerrrrrffeeectttiiioonn.
someday, i dream fo a e34 m5 daily driver :ughd:
and any bmw b4 e36...before the technological bastardafication....supa reliable

They are two totally different type of cars. E30 M3 is without a doubt a sick car, so if you got deep pockets for maintenance and such go for it. Most people get S13s and S14s cause you won't be as worried to actually push the car and have fun with it. I'd be less willing to push a 15k M3 versus a 5k 240sx. I think they both deliver different types of satisfaction.

i drove my friend's e30 M3 through the mountains quite a few times. That car is so much superior to the S-chassis. It does exactly what it's supposed to all the time. I loved it and i hope to own one in the future.

The E30 is a friend of mine's .... it's alot of fun. It's about as close as you can get to a factory race car. I know he wouldn't trade it for anything in the world, but like everyone else said, expect to pay a good amount for parts for it.

if you have a chance call up a bmw dealer and ask how much a replacement S14 motor brand new long block not the rebuilt ones the brand new ones that take 8 months too order from BMW AG

Check out s14.net, it has all the information you would ever need to know about the e30 m3 and the s14 engine. I would definently spring for the e30 m3, they are pretty expensive to upkeep but they are so rare and they are just beautiful.

E30 M3's ownz! I would definantly get that car if its in pristine condition. My first car was a E30 318i and i absolutly love it(still got it). I was planning on building up my 318i but after calling around and getting some price quotes i quickly decided to just get a s13 for now. I also plan on getting an E30 M3 sometime in the future...if i can find one in GOOD condition.

Heres a picture of my rides.
My dad rocks the 318i now..which explain's the chrome bLinG bLinG fender trim's(its an OG filipino thang i guess..LoL)
