Opinionated question for you guys.

I got some 17x9 +20 falken hannabi's to use as drift spares and wets for next season, not the nicest rim of all time but they do the job and were cheap. Figure this way I wont care about smashing them.

I picked up some 215/45/17 used tires for cheap and found a shop that would mount them. I tried to find 235/45s but it was to no avil. Not even 225s! Anyways - I already have 15mm H&R spacers on my car, and the fronts fit (in my opinion) perfectly with a 17x9 +5 setup, but the rears are (also in my opinion) sticking way too far out. The tread is still inside the wheel well, but the sidewall and rim sticks out huge. The rim is out about 15mm from the fender.

Two options: take the spacer out and now have the rim flush or just a bit less than flush with the body which would look kinda whack, sine the front wheel sticks out about 5mm OR add rediculous amounts of camber to the rear (i have rucas). What do you boys suggest?

I wish I could grab a 5-8mm spacer but it just can't be done in time for the event on saturday. Thanks.

I think a 5-8mm spacer would be your best bet, for the event, take out the spacer. You don't want an amazing amount of camber, or your rear tire will be gone in no time. Unless you have alot of spare tires. then by all means, camber it

I was lookin for 235s everywhere but I couldn't find any used ones, I guess they aren't the factory size for many cars (GS430 i think)

Obviously by ADD camber i mean ADD negative camber thanks for comin out.

Maybe i should just drop the spacer for this event and then grab some 5mm spacers, or make some on the lathe. I think thats what I'll do. No spacer really looks ass but whatever. function over form.

Thanks guys

god you people are negative camber sluts, the sides of tires are not supposed to be concave, and its not only illegal to have tires sticking outside of your fenderwells but its also fuggin ghetto.

MORE TIRE MORE FENDER THE END.

yea these tires were kinda last minute

idealy i want 235/45/17 all around. I'm on the other side of the continent from jspec so thats not an option.

I don't want to pull because then my volks will look like ass.

I'm gonna roll and pull spacers on friday i'll post pics

So I ended up pulling the spacer and taking away camber (adding positive camber if you want to be a dick about it), still had way too much camber though and was eating the inside of the tires only. More tire pressure and even less camber next time for sure.

Front was 17x9+5 rear was 17x9+20

and a video http://www.sequence-garage.com/driftpractice.mov (quicktime like 30mb or whatever)

Watch the video when I'm coming near the wall, look at the tire mark that is left behind. Notice how black the inside is and how light the rest is. I sure as hell am glad I didn't add even more camber

ouch to the red/blk fb. :wtc: What happened to that car. just fix the tires and play with the camber and you'll be fine. :whip:
