Whats the deal with S14 oxygen sensors??

I need to replace the pre-cat oxygen sensor on my 1997 5spd LE, but I'm having trouble finding an aftermarket part with an OE fit (not universal). I have heard that neither Bosch nor NTK make an O2 sensor for cars manual transmission cars manufactured after 7/96... is this true?

I'm wondering what other S14 owners with cars manufactured after 7/96 have done for aftermarket oxygen sensors?

I've tried the search... but "O2" is apparently too short of a word, and "oxygen" doesnt get me very far.

Thanks for the help guys!

uh, bosch makes them. bosch.com, part number 13221 i think.

universal ones just splice into the plug you have now and save you 10-20 dollars.

Is that a one wire, or three wire? The 96-98s use the three wire front sensor.

papershot, from what i've been told, that sensor is for S14s manufactured before 7/96. Same with the sensor listed on NTKs website. I just don't know if its true or not...

I'd rather spend the few extra bucks and get an OE fit sensor... if one exists...

Nobody with a '97 5-spd S14 has replaced their O2 sensor recently?

pretty sure its the three wire sensor. i had to go to autozone just last weekend to buy a single wire sensor and they gave me some 3 wire one on accident.

i suggest you stop going by what you "heard" or what someone "told" you and find out yourself. go to autozone/kragen/whatever with the list of part numbers and tell them to get them then open the boxes to find the one you need.
