I'm having a problem rolling my passenger side window back up. I've had intermittent problems the last couple weeks trying to roll up the passenger side window but it didnt happen too often. Today, i tried to roll it back up and it wouldnt go. I didnt get too worried and kept trying cuz it usually will roll up after a few tries but not this time. Anyways, my driver side window works fine. Neither the driver side or passenger side switch will roll the window back up so i need to get this fixed asap cuz i cant park my car anywhere with the window rolled down. If anyones got some ideas let me know. I'm thinking its most likely the motor but i dunno. I dont hear any clicking when i try to roll the window up or down. Aside from that is it possible that a bad ground could cause this. ever since i bought the car i've heard this noise coming from behind the door panel, it almost sounds like mice clawing around behind my door panel =]. I assumed it was prolly a bad ground but never got around to checking. I did notice that if i pushed my door panel against the door the noise would go away tho. Thanks for any help!

I have a '95 and its a similar problem... VERY FRUSTRATING...
I can't roll my passenger window DOWN.. occasionally it will work.. maybe 1 out of every 50 tries.. Once I get it down, I can always get it back up with the Passenger side control, but the Driver side might have problems. The only way I've seemed to have any luck is if i play with both swithes at the same time, and it might work, other than that it's completly random. The connections seem to be solid however. Any ideas, or advice on how to actually test out the motor manually???
Thx,

happeend to me this past weekend on my 95 s14, it wasnt my switch or the power amp, it was my motor that took a shit, so i bought a used one from the junkyard with a regulator and swapped it, works like a charm now. unplug the wire that goes to ur motor, its behind the door panel, its a 2 color harness, and hook a battery with 2 wires up to it. if it doesnt work then ur window motor took a shit on u.

Couple questions about that..
I'm guessing you had to take the whole door panel off?? Last time I did that I broke half the connectors off..
Do you need a 12V battery, or can you test with something like a square 9v?
And was your problem like mine, where it would sometimes work, or was it completly crapped out??
Thx

First check to see if the motor has simply come loose from the brackets. If the motor or any of the window brackets have de-railed or come loose you will have problems. This is the easiest thing to check. Simply pull off your door panel and carefully remove the plastic wheather cover. Then use a flashlight and check all the mounting points to make sure they're snug.
If that's all good then next check the harness connectors for the window switches. If either of the window switches are not connected properly the window will not roll down or up.
Then finally if all that's good then it most likely is a fried motor. Check out ebay for a used one for about 80 bucks.
Good luck.
