I bought a set of side skirts off of someone and they said there were OEM from Nissan. They arrive today and I'm a little concerned that they aren't in fact OEM.

First off there's no stamping or lettering to say its Nissan.

Second its a totally different material from my front S13 Zenki lip. It feels like the material old cheap plastic gutters are made out of.

Is this actually the material they are made out of or did this guy just screw me over? :hammer:

I don't think mine had any markings either but when I pick mine up they almost do a 180* twist end-to-end they're so flexible. I would look at mine for you but they're about 100 miles away.

I'm not sure I understand you about the cheap plastic gutters but you're only real options are fiberglass and urethane. Most aero is made from one of those. If it's VERY flexible it's urethane, if it's semi-flexible it's quality fiberglass, and if it's rigid it's normal fiberglass.

I don't know who else makes urethane skirts but I think one American company did...maybe Xenon?

Well my front Zenki lip is urethane and I can bend that thing in half and not worry about anything. It was sent to me folded in a box! The sideskirts are not the same material.

But with these sideskirts if I attempted to bend them in half they would crack like balsa wood. However, I CAN twist them. They feel like the material old skool material halloween masks were made out of. :loco:

those are oem, mine are the same. I cannot 'bend' mine, however they do twist. I just think they're designed stupidly, theres so many stress points.Right as they curve around the fender (watch for cracks), when they curve to go to their mounting point at the top (on the little rail thing, check for cracks), and also when they curve to mount at the top in the back, mine have been cracked and repaired there numerous times, too many stress points, but hey, they lookgood :)

NOT ALL OEM AERO IS URETHANE...

those are made out of ABS plastic. i have some silvia rear valances that are the same thing.

the zenki lip and cdm (canadian domestic market) side skirts are urethane. they were made by a company called FOHA that is european but has a facility in toronto, among others. you prolly wont find nissan badging in this stuff either.

are the 180 sides you got KOUKI or zenki?
if kouki will be 4 different pieces
zenki/chuuki is one piece and flexable plastic
ive owned both.

the sides he has are the oem chuki, abs plastic, one piece sides that will not endure as much thrashing as the zenki, urethane lip.

I got the same ones last week.

Those are what you wanted, they are made from a much more rigid material, rigid generally guarantees that the part is more brittle, but they can use less material and still have the same strength. If they were made from teh same material and your lip you would have to have a metal backing behind it to stop it from distorting and it would likely weigh 15-20lbs per side, the type-X skirts weigh about 1lb each and are very resiliant. Nothing beats them. Much more durable than fiberglass and they screw on in a matter of minutes and are pro looking. Nothing beats factory fitting parts.

And screws in the front and back that go into the fenders.
