it was luey02, the lying bastard, he likes it he just doesnt know it yet.

i was the same way when i first got it on, i didnt notice too much gain in power but it did sound really good...

then a week later you'll be wondering why you bought it then you will be driving and some one will rev at you and you rev back and both of you, simultaneously, will say..

"oh, that's why"

you will notice high end gain, you will love the sound, although loud. you will grow to love the back fire...

you will have a whole bunch of people look at the long angled pipes and say, how much did you pay for that muffler dude??

"it's not a muffler 'DOOD' it's Apexi"

and then your gone

That will be me. I wrote a long ass post and i hate typing it again.. damn.. but since you wanna know so bad..

First, Bing lives in a fairy tail.

After a couple days of testing, here's my review.

Mineke torched the 2 rusted bolts off from the cat, and put in new studs for me for $40.... what a rip off! Not like I could do it myself anyway. Then the install was a breeze, it took me an hour by myself. Just have a can of wd40 then you be aight.. I love the lube.

Problems you say?

I really dont like the Jap style of slanted canisters.. (is yours slanted bing?) I think they changed it recently cuz none of the dual pics I've seen has them slanted.

Power gain was real noticeable above 35k, loss of low end was next to undetectable... more so though in fiftth gear going around 65mph.

Sound wasn't too impressive.. below 25k, which most of us shift at, the exhaust sound like a honda. I dont know if it's even possible to have a low tone at a low rev.. above that, it's real nice.. Put it this way, it turns a few heads and your seat vibrates..

Overall, good performance gain and sound is not loud under 30k but it sounded a bit like hondas until above 3k. (no one pays attention unless you go loud anyway tho)

Looks can be improved.. I mean it's a $500 system, lotta money for a ugly exhaust..

pics will be up in 1 hr!

i dunno if its just me but i actually really like the slanted look much better than the straight look, and all N1s i've seen are slanted (i always thought thats what N1 means ). it also helps so people don't just think u took 2 unversal mufflers and slapped them on or bought a universal dual canister muffler (i've seen them on integras...). the only honda i'd compare it to at lower RPMs would have to be a prelude and those have a low pitched note at lower RPMs anyway (2.2-2.3 liters, makes sense...), my friends Type SH with a Greddy is almost the same pitch as my car at idle. Once he revs above a certain RPM (can't remember, i'm guessin 3 or 4k) it all changes though, mine is a lot lower pitch throughout the whole range. i think u'll like it burgy240, it grows on u. just my .02

by the way heres my page if u want to see how it looks on my car My Webpage (http://hometown.aol.com/morgan1774)

On the other hand...I love my n1 dual. I love the way it looks. I love the way it sounds. I noticed a gain of highend power.

N1 doesn't mean that they are slanted. The term comes after the endurance race cars.

i love the look, it's way different than anything else, and i get sked about it often...

yes it is pricey, but you pay for somethign fairly unique, no one i know even knew what it was until i told them..

N1s and N1 duals have always been slanted.
For me, I LOVE them. They're a nice quiet exhaust up till around 2500-3000 and then the get a little growl... past 4500, the growl becomes a fierce scream.
I noticed very little, if any loss in low end performance, and my top end is improved significantly..

Out of curiosity, does everyone here want a loud exhaust?
For me, I'd rather have an exhaust that I can cruise at 45-55 and not bring attention to myself from police, and when I want to intimidate, just revup to around 4k, downshift and floor it.

One tip when installing your exhausts.. Make SURE you have no exhaust leaks.. even tiny leaks can effect the sound and flow of the exhaust due to the turbulence by the pressure/temperature difference.

My perfect exhaust would be one that looks super sweet under the car, Gives me a nice HP boost, is quiet at a cruise, and at idle, and gets Nice and loud when I rev at somebody.

I still haven't found that exhaust. Any Suggestions?

I tell you what, the dual aint it. to me at least. looks ugly and only quiet on a down hill cruise.. once you hit that gas, it growls.. It does give nice HP gain tho, I can now cut in traffic from a stop more easily..

have you guys noticed it's louder after 3 days??? mine's louder I feel... it kinda gives me the ricer image now.. no!!!!

Well, mine is loudest (of course) at wide open throttle at high RPMs. It's second loudest when i'm going downhill at no throttle to slow myself down. It's a loud low rumble. Personally, I love the way it looks, and i'm getting used to the backfire, though mine doesn't do it very often, just every once in a while.

I've got my N1 strapped up to a SR and it is quieter(sp) than the stock piece of crap that the previous owner had on it and the stock crap was so rusted that it almost sounded aftermarket. Anyway the power delivery is sooooo smooth all the way to the 7650rpm redline. I LOVE THE SR20DET!!!!!

Well, sorry all. I didn't get any pics of the install, but it couldn't be any easier. It took about 30 minutes after it was on the lift. I just brushed the bolt from the cat with a wire brush to get a lot of the rust off and then cranked em off. undid the four bungees and of she came. then just bolted the dual together and then installed the rubber bushing supply and lift it up onto the car. I then bolted it to the cat and slid the bungee hangers back on. The only trickyt thing is that you remove the first bungee and replace it with the rubber bushing they supply. Bolt the bushing onto the car and then it REALLY is as simple as I made it sound. I'll get pics of it on my car when it stops raining. Anyone has questions feel free to message me or post. lata

Luey, I'm just curious, but if you hate it so much, why don't you just sell it and buy an HKS Sport exhaust? That one looks stock, doesn't angle, has small piping for N/A and isn't loud. Otherwise, stop whining and realize that you have the coolest exhaust available for the 240. Bar none. It's unique, and that's what makes it so special. A Honda can have an N1 single, a 5Zigen, and many others. But the N1 dual is only available for the 240 and the RX-7...the exclusivity alone makes it cooler than the rest.

As for the sound levels and rumble, just get a set of silencers. Or an SR20DET like me.

Rather than make a new post and take up to much bandwidth I thought I'd just post that the pics of my N1 dual are up on my webshots pagehttp://community.webshots.com/user/burgy240 I took a pic of one of the bungees to help those that may do this in the future. Also took a bad pic of the rubber bushing that replaces the front most bungee and attaches the piping to the frame.
Also, let me know what eryone thinks about the zilvia.net sticker too. it would fit in the side markers up front of our cars.

So about the backfiring and rumble...How bad are both, and is it still worth it for the exhaust?

I haven't had one backfire yet. The drone is only there until about 2.5K RPMS. It is real throuty after that. It is a little loud but I can make the sound dissappear completely by getting the RPM over 2.5K and holding the throttle still. Under acceleration it is impossible to hide though. I love it and it is worth every penny to me. Oh yeah, the performance enhancement is awesome. The car roars up through the gears and the throttle response seems excellent.

the n1 and n1dual are slanted to accomodate the straight pipe design....you know better air flow= more power...hence the slanted exhaust.:boink:
